Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 vs Lenovo Legion Slim 7

I'll preface this by stating that I'm a linux user - first thing I did when I got this was install two NVME SDDs and install linux onto them, leaving the original NVME drive intact and unused for warranty purposes. That said, I'll start with the good: * Solid gaming performance - performs as I'd expect a laptop grade GPU to perform (not great, not terrible either - most of my experience was via an external GPU enclosure with a desktop GPU attached, which performs great) * Three (3!) NVME slots, allowing up to 6 TB of fast storage (which I'm currently using) * Never seems to get very hot nor make much noise - good thermal support ..

Exactly what I was looking for: an ultrabook level laptop which can handle anything you throw at it! Thin, light, and sleek, but under the hood, packs a Ryzen 7 5800H and an RTX 3060 with 100W TGP, and advanced optimus (aka, the mux switch).

However, as stated, this is a "semi" replacement in the sense that I need it to also be light and portable. The Zephyrus seems to me to be a good compromise for my intended purpose and, unlike the Rog Strix, isn't made of plastic.

The advanced optimus works very well you can hear the windows sound for the GPU physically connecting and disconnecting when not in use and really helps with battery. Battery is what's been the biggest surprise here. it just runs and runs! I easily get 5 hours when watching just a video stream and the laptop has built in options to limit charge capacity to maximize life (i set mine to 60% but can do 80 also) at 60% I still get nearly 3 hours of web browsing use (helped by browsing software as well) but asus built in software does a great job with lots of options to reduce frame rate to the monitor and optimize clock and fan settings, and when plugged in or when a game launches the GPU kicks on and the fans wind up (is loud with the raised keyboard) and the laptop performs like a true gaming machine. The Lenovo legion slim 7 is a great product. It has a nice/responding keyboard and an efficient layout. The fingerprint reader is also a nice touch. One minor issue I have with this laptop is it's battery life

Worth it? No. It is too expensive for those specs. If you want to get something thin and light, get the Asus rog zephyrus lineup or those thin msi laptops.

Got it too, as a result of getting sick of waiting for the Legion 7 with 3070 to be available in my country. The more i use it, the more I'm feeling is a really good value for the money. Got it on discount for around 1500 euro, which is a very good deal considering the laptop prices in my country now. Even more so: The European version comes with faster RAM contrary to the the slower ones, which are used in the US versions of the Advantage Edition and the Lenovo 5 Pro
