 You can still run most of your games but with a serious performance hit and no fan noise. If you have headphones you'll probably not notice either way.

Solid laptop that runs everything on ultra

 Battery life is pretty darn good considering this thing has a 2060 in it (same idea for the 2070 model). Small things such as the mic and webcam are good as well and there is generally great ease of use.

There’s a fix for Nvidia video card not detected

It was really heavy including the charger into my backpack was crazy amount of weight. I’m talking over 7.5 pounds. Ended up with an m16 zephyrus

Hi everyone! So I'm in a bit of a situation where I'm ultimately deciding between 2 laptops. I'm going to be using this laptop for gaming as well as video editing and photo editing (as well as whatever random hobby I just pick up lol), I've set my budget to be $2500. Of course less expensive is better, but if it's really worth it then I'm not opposed to reaching that cap. 

The first option is

- Lenovo Legion 7i gen 7 - 3070 ti, I7 12800hx, 32gb gddr5 ram, 2 TB ssd ~ $2100 (with coupons and rakuten)

I know realistically this is the safest and best option. I know this sub has a track record for loving the Legion models. For less money I could get this and have more storage off bat as well as the slew of quality of life features that come with the legion 7 series.

- HP Omen 17 (2022 model) - 3080 ti, I7 12800hx, 32gb gddr5 ram, 1tb ssd ~ $2440 (with student discount)

Lastly there's this one. It's so hard to find anything of use on the newer Omen laptops, especially the 17 inch ones and ones with a 3080 ti. I understand that price to performance on the 3080ti isn't nearly as good as the 3070ti but for the price of a 3080ti laptop this is by far the best bang for buck I've seen for the chip. Not only that but I'm hopeful that the cooling solution would be better than the other 2 simply due to it's size. What worries me most is the lack of Omen reviews and thermal benchmarks on this model. 

Do you guys think it's worth sacrificing the build quality and features that come with the Legion to spend a little over $300 more to get the Omen? The other thing is that there isn't too much info with these models and how well the cooling solutions perform. My brain wants to say that the Omen will be better at adequately cooling the system with lower noise levels due to it being a bigger chassis, but I really don't know how well the current omens handle their heat. I also don't know how the 7th gen of the 7i  handles heat, but to be fair I don't know if many do.

While I would love to wait and see Jarrod's Tech full review on the 7i, I'm going to have to order relatively soon because my abroad program will be starting soon.

If you guys have any experience with these models or at least with ones with similar specs I would love to hear your guy's experience and input on this and thank you! (Also sorry for writing a novel)

Need help deciding between 2 laptops

 The L5P’s are priced very nicely and can even find them with huge discounts making it the no brainer choice obviously. But nothing can really beat the g15’s performance to size, maybe razers laptops can beat it but comparing Intel to amd when it comes to gaming is a little bias.

If the Zephyrus m16 came in a 3070 I’m all countries I honestly think the legion wouldn’t compete as well. But the counter argument would be it’s price. The L5P’s are priced very nicely and can even find them with huge discounts making it the no brainer choice obviously. But nothing can really beat the g15’s performance to size, maybe razers laptops can beat it but comparing Intel to amd when it comes to gaming is a little bias

So my new video has made a lot of Lenovo fans mad.. To be fair, I am a little harsh on the Legion 5 Pro. On its own, it’s a great laptop. But in comparison to the G15 (depending on the price you find either for), those premium features Asus offers are just so nice to have. Speakers, touchpad, keyboard, battery life, fan curves, better Silent Mode, etc.

I’ve also tested games side by side on both machines and concluded (in my opinion) that the additional 40 watts in the L5P doesn’t seem to produce a linear increase in performance. The MUX switch does more for it than anything else, but when testing both in or out of hybrid mode against the other, they perform pretty equally! This just shows how important a mux switch can be over wattage. Asus, if you’re listening, please put MUX switches (or advanced optimus) in your laptops cause the G15 is absolutely amazing otherwise.

Here are my gaming benchmarks below. Obviously the big disadvantage here in the G15 is that you have to hook up to an external monitor to do the same thing that the L5P’s MUX switch does. But either way, dGPU mode is dGPU mode, so this is essentially comparing these two GPUs for what they're capable of. Also many L5P's have slower RAM timing, but mine did not so these machines both have the same RAM timings. Last thing, keep in mind that fps is barely different (sometimes worse and/or just very hard to configure correctly) with the L5P in 1440p so both are tested in their native resolution.

This one was odd but I'm throwing it in just because I thought it was weird how in 1080p on this game the G15 pulled ahead

My conclusion from testing? I don't believe there is a linear correlation between performance and GPU wattage. I think we're dealing with the law of diminishing returns here. I'd guess that 100-120 watts in the mobile RTX 3070 might be the sweet spot. These are just my thoughts though so please analyze this data and form your own conclusions. Getting defensive and angry isn't a good look on anyone.

Asus Zephyrus G15 vs Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (Benchmarks)

 Gpu options for M16 are 3050Ti/3060/3070 due to the intel core i9 11th gen i9 11900H being a hotter more powerful chip. Subreddit: r/ZephyrusM16 shorter 5 hours battery life but if you use igpu only mode it could last maybe 6-7 hours.

Starting uni soon so I wanted some good laptop recommendations since I don't know anything.

I plan on using the laptop to browse, create PowerPoint, edit, run an online business and general research

Price: up to £1,600 or 2,224 usd 

I've heard alot about Intel and amd AMD but i don't know which ones good so any information on them would be helpful :)

What I would like:
•lasts long (couples of years)
•long battery life ( more than 7 ideally)
•back-lit keyboard
•doesn't overheat
•good audio and camera 
•storage 512GB and up
•good build 
•RAM 8GB+

I've heard that's SSD storage is better than HDD. So the storage I would ideally like to be SSD.

A question I have is would it be better to buy a laptop with 1 terabyte of storage or buy one with 512GB and upgrade it? 

I'm open to all laptops within the budget. If you could suggest one and say why it is good from experience that would be greatly helpful.

The weight doesn't really bother me but if it's on the lighter side that would be nice.


<div class="md">Starting uni soon so I wanted some good laptop recommendations since I don&#39;t know anything.

I plan on using the laptop to browse, create PowerPoint, edit, run an online business and general research

Price: up to £1,600 or 2,224 usd 

I&#39;ve heard alot about Intel and amd AMD but i don&#39;t know which ones good so any information on them would be helpful :)

What I would like:
•lasts long (couples of years)
•long battery life ( more than 7 ideally)
•back-lit keyboard
•doesn&#39;t overheat
•good audio and camera 
•storage 512GB and up
•good build 
•RAM 8GB+

I&#39;ve heard that&#39;s SSD storage is better than HDD. So the storage I would ideally like to be SSD.

A question I have is would it be better to buy a laptop with 1 terabyte of storage or buy one with 512GB and upgrade it? 

I&#39;m open to all laptops within the budget. If you could suggest one and say why it is good from experience that would be greatly helpful.

The weight doesn&#39;t really bother me but if it&#39;s on the lighter side that would be nice.
