 You're going to have the best Ares cable modem like I have the 6183 one of the best and then you have a router with the MU MIMO technology that allows you to run 12 different devices. Once you've meshed them together it really pulls out the power you know in the devices that you have and what you want to use for my home. Like I say I'm a gamer and I have a movie room where I stream my movies and stuff like Netflix and things like that. So this is great cable modem to have because I know I'm getting the best signal from the cable company you know and I had them come in the cable company come in and they pretty much special wired my home because it was hooked up by satellite but then they had to come in and put everything so they put signal repeaters and all kinds of stuff to strengthen my signal from their home office and I'm not that far I'm probably about a mile or two from the actual home office so I even get a better signal

Review: Arris Surfboard SB6183 Cable Modem

We now have super fast speeds and Wi-Fi throughout the entire house. How? We bought an Arris Surfboard modem. It was over $300 because we wanted to get one that would last a while & we feel it was so worth it since we don’t have to deal with the frustration of paying $$$ for a service that didn’t work like it should & we don’t have to pay each month to rent the Xfinity modem.

I have 1,200 down 40 up, or at least that’s what I pay for along with unlimited data.
Endless signal drops for Wi-Fi, lost Ethernet connections. Have had techs out several times over the years. Sometimes it will work for a while. But invariably it all falls apart.
Last week I spoke with a rep who said an XB8 was going to definitely fix my issue. 
Now, I’m not new to this rodeo and didn’t have any really big amount of hope it would fix the issue. But when they send another XB7, same as the one I am using, that didn’t feel like good service. 
This week I’ve worked using my phone as a hot spot, which sucks when you work from home. Tech will be here tomorrow. Will be interesting to see why at the end of the day everything will still be broken.

I have no faith Xfinity can fix my issue and deliver what I pay for.

 Beyond that, again I just can't recommend enough getting rid of the rental, there's absolutely just no reason for it at all, so that's why I'm sharing this with all of you today. You can see I break open the packaging there, we've got the cable modem itself, same white finish as the other surfboard models, pretty straightforward, really you know a matter of personal taste, whether you like the white or black finish, but that's not why we're purchasing this is this. It's all about raw performance and that's what this is going to deliver. You can see your Ethernet port right there for of course sending the signal out, your coax input from your coax jack from your provider, and the power port right there at the bottom of the modem

 They're just taking that extra measure to make sure that you don't do anything to compromise the hardware or your life basically. Otherwise we've got the power brick in here, which I'm gonna get to right now. Remove this entire paper shield that essentially is housing the wall wart that you're gonna be using to connect the modem to the power main, and the included Ethernet cable, which I don't think is a cat six, but it may be. I'm looking to see if it is on here

0, speeds at up to 686, and that is all realistic. 16 download channels for upload channels, this is part of the reason you're going to need it for Time Warner, and then you can see also pointing out compatibility with pretty much every major US provider. Two-year warranty, they're also pointing out that you should stop renting, I completely agree. If you're renting a modem or especially the all-in-one modem router set-top boxes, I'm gonna call them, get rid of it

 If I flip the box over we can go ahead and see a quick comparison between the different surfboard models, whether you're dealing with the 121 where you peak at 172, or the 141 which I had, which I thought would be capable of a little bit of future proofing with Time Warner, but unfortunately because of the way Time Warner delivers this higher, their higher bandwidth packages, the 141 even though it's capable of more than the package I'm currently on in terms of raw performance, the delivery method in terms of channels that Time Warner requires are not there, so you need to go with the 183. This is on their supported device list, so keep that in mind you want to reference that with whatever you own to make sure that it will work. Again the 141 is not going to achieve even the 200 down 20 up plan, let alone the 300 down 20 up plan, even though it does have the raw capability. So you're gonna want to go with this modem

I may upgrade to 400mbps, but probably won’t do one of the higher tier plans. The Arris Surfboard SB6183 looks like a cost-effective option ($55 currently). Others im considering are the Motorola MB7621 at $90, and the Netgear CM1100 at $110. Reliability is important, and a modem that will be supported by xfinity for at least the next 2 years

The Suddenlink tech came when the internet was functional, measured the channel signal strength, got a range from 6-9dbmv, and said: "Your 200mb plan is too slow for this 24 channel modem, either upgrade your plan or downgrade your modem." I reminded him that my previous modem had 32 channels and no issues for years. He offered no further advice

 here. You have your power switch here or power plug there. You have your coax cable connection there. you have a reset button that's um, you need something to push within like a pin or something and you have a connection to your your network

 I'm not even sure you can do that. Um, but um, yeah. you'll need your ex an external router or something from the Linksys or Tcp. or Tc link or Tp link or whatever

 I don't have gigabit service so I haven't tested it at that speed. but I get good, solid connectivity. Um, whatever thing I connect with it. Um, so yeah, um uh

 Great product. So hey, if you're looking to cut that, um, cut that bill back some um, switch, own your own device. uh this is a good good one to buy if you're on those cable services that is, uh um, that it works with. So um, yeah, go ahead and pick it up

 I've had other ones that um, you know were provided by my Um service provider and I weren't as weren't that impressed with it. But you know I like the Motorola brand. I've always liked the Motorola brand when it comes to routers and phones and everything else. and um, this one's It's been really a really solid modem for me
