10Gbps is not meaningful or useful for anything WiFi , and 6Gbps isn’t either. That said, a separate modem is a good idea - it lets you use your own routing and WiFi gear, without being stuck with whatever cheap garbage the ISP insisted on. The Arris S33 is also excellent as modems go, and supports 2.5Gbps Ethernet.

Quick and easy answer: go to Amazon and pick whichever Arris Surfboard with DOCSIS 3.1 or higher that meets your budget.

I would prefer the fastest speeds possible for both my wired and wireless connections. My modem is an **ARRIS Surfboard S33** with xfinity comcast 1.2gpbs internet.

We now have super fast speeds and Wi-Fi throughout the entire house. How? We bought an Arris Surfboard modem. It was over $300 because we wanted to get one that would last a while & we feel it was so worth it since we don’t have to deal with the frustration of paying $$$ for a service that didn’t work like it should & we don’t have to pay each month to rent the Xfinity modem.

Modem: Arris Surfboard S33. It has a 2.5G port, so you can take full advantage of your 1.2G (or more!) service. It's nice and compact, so it fits in more places than the competition.

past negative experiences, and I find that their support is dismal, at best. Something like an Arris S33 will probably serve you better,.

I had a Motorola MB8600 for years worked great. Sold it and purchased an Arris S33 and it's been great too.

Not saying you'll suffer the same issues, but I had nothing but problems with the MB8611. Constant disconnects with all transmit/receive levels being perfect. Because I thought my brand new modem couldn't be the issue I had to have multiple phone chats that lead to a technician coming to my house to also verify everything was OK. Bought the Arris S33 as a last ditch effort and boom, no more issues. What hurts is my return window closed on the 8611 and while I know it's under warranty, after much googling it seems to be a somewhat common problem with xfinity.... YMMV of course.
