The Motorola MB8600 should be a good modem, but if it were myself I would spend an extra $20 and get the MB8611 instead as the extra $20 gives you a 2.5Gb ethernet port and circuitry which will allow you to gain full access to your 1Gb Internet connection.

As for products -- for the cable modem, you want just a plain modem (no modem/router combo unit). For North American gigabit, you want a Broadcom chipset and 32 downstream channels; I would go Motorola MB8600 or MB8611. For the network gear, you could look at Ubiquiti UniFi or TP-Link Omada, but for utmost simplicity and stability, I would look at Cisco Business.
