 I'll be going with the ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 modem with the tp-link ax10 router. I'm looking for a sizeable upgrade, but not looking to squeeze out every mbps possible as I don't think it will be a huge difference for my usage.

 This thing is a fantastic little modem. So you just take this guy, you pair it with a nice mesh system like that and that'll take care of your problems. Even if you do upgrade to something later, just hold on to this thing because you might be in a situation like I was today where I needed a modem and this thing fit the bill. It just works

4 Year Review ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem

 You can. With the Quaxel connection coming into the building and into your home and attaching to the back of this modem, you can push two gigabits per second if you really wanted to. However, the ISP is only going to allow you one to begin with because your IP address is only going to be assigned to that one port. To actually make use of the second port, you're actually going to have to call your ISP and say, hey, I need a second address coming to this other port so that way I can make use of both ports

 But they promised 1.4 gigabits per second, and that was, you know, theoretical. They never really could push that because the gigabit or the ethernet port on the modem was a gigabit anyways. And the same thing applies to this, which is our answer

 It is a fantastic modem. It's got all the speeds you need to be able to keep up with today's modern high speed access plans, including those gigabit plans that some of the companies like Cox have been offering. So if it was a toss up between the 6190 and the 8200, we would recommend the 8200. Or if you're looking for a DOCSIS 3

 And there is a catch to that, you know, because they advertise this. You got two ethernet ports, therefore you have up to two gigabits per second that you can push on this modem, which is true. You can. With the Quaxel connection coming into the building and into your home and attaching to the back of this modem, you can push two gigabits per second if you really wanted to

Arris SB8200 Docsis 3.1 Cable Modem - Unboxing - Poc Network

 Negative: IPV6 is blocked ( MDD IP4 “Honor Mode” ?)  I am returning the modem because I use IP6. Spectrum is unwilling to be more than minimally helpful even though the model is on their “approved” list. My only regret is Amazon delivery and service is excellent, they should not have to eat a return because the Manufacturer does not display crucial information in its UI and the Provider claims not to be able to confirm whether they are provisioning IP6 or not.

Here we go again with forced upon you star ratings, this time for wi fi signal and tech support. Sorry the wifi is awful as it has none, it is just a cable modem. No tech support needed if you take the easy way when following the app and just hit the button that brings you to your ISP. Screw in the coax, plug in modem, call the number for your ISP and tell them the mac address

Failed within 6 months

 The Arris SB8200 is also the only Docsis 3.1 modem with two Ethernet ports capable of doing 2Gbps down and is the most future proof of any modem on the market at the time of writing this review. And you can get a refurbished model for half the price which is even better!  Inside the Arris SB8200 is a Broadcom BCM3390 chipset (a much needed change from the SB6190’s Intel Puma 6 chipset which had hardware bugs and caused them a lawsuit for good measure), 3GB of RAM, 128MB S34ML01G200TFV00 Spansion flash memory NAND and 16MB Macronix MX25L12805D SPI NAND flash memory. The SB8200 is capable of downstream bonded channels up to 32 SCQAM or 2 OFDM and upstream bonded channels up to 8 SCQAM or 2 OFDMA (32x8 SCQAM and 2x2 OFDM)

  But now that the line and backend errors are corrected it's smooth sailing and I'm saving myself a ton of money (the new Xfinity modem charge is $14 plus tax and it will be $15 by the beginning of 2020 so you pay for the modem in a little over a year) every year and you'll have the newest technology that is even better than the Xfinity modems and gateways, many of which use the Puma 6 chipset which I mentioned above (causing severe lag and timeouts which can kill online gaming or video watching). So I'm paying $69.99 and getting Gigabit speeds of 950Mbps down and 48Mbps up which is a great deal hands down and you won't find speeds that cheap ANYWHERE ELSE! The Arris brand is keeping the Motorola spirit alive and kicking which is great for competition! The Arris SB8200 is the best modem you can buy for your money right now and if you can find a refurbished unit on Amazon even better (they didn't have any when I bought mine but three weeks later they did and for $100 cheaper)!

This would be great if you wanted to connect a gaming console directly to the modem for the best speeds and then connect your home router to the second. And eventually you'll be able to kick in 2Gbps by merging those two Ethernet ports!  Setup of the device was quick and easy and you simply plugin the coxial cable, Ethernet cable to your device (router for 99% of the people) and power cable and you are off and running

1 in your area or a Gigabit internet speed plan this modem will serve you for many years to come. And this modem has 3GB of RAM, which the other Docsis 3.1 modems have 256MB or less! RAM! Oh and with most providers (Xfinity included) you can call them and add a separate IP address for the second Ethernet port for a small fee (Xfinity charges like $5.95 if I'm remembering correctly)

Works great and saves you money but has a sensitivity to errors which can cause major headaches!

The Suddenlink tech came when the internet was functional, measured the channel signal strength, got a range from 6-9dbmv, and said: "Your 200mb plan is too slow for this 24 channel modem, either upgrade your plan or downgrade your modem." I reminded him that my previous modem had 32 channels and no issues for years. He offered no further advice

 here. You have your power switch here or power plug there. You have your coax cable connection there. you have a reset button that's um, you need something to push within like a pin or something and you have a connection to your your network

 I'm not even sure you can do that. Um, but um, yeah. you'll need your ex an external router or something from the Linksys or Tcp. or Tc link or Tp link or whatever

 I don't have gigabit service so I haven't tested it at that speed. but I get good, solid connectivity. Um, whatever thing I connect with it. Um, so yeah, um uh

 Great product. So hey, if you're looking to cut that, um, cut that bill back some um, switch, own your own device. uh this is a good good one to buy if you're on those cable services that is, uh um, that it works with. So um, yeah, go ahead and pick it up

 I've had other ones that um, you know were provided by my Um service provider and I weren't as weren't that impressed with it. But you know I like the Motorola brand. I've always liked the Motorola brand when it comes to routers and phones and everything else. and um, this one's It's been really a really solid modem for me
