Battery Life

All it needed was a totally new keyboard and faster processors

2GHz to get something done and then ramp it back down to 1.1GHz to preserve heat and battery life. This is a pretty normal strategy now.

\- Dell Latitude 7420. I want one that's longer lasting and has a good keyboard, and more importantly have more battery life on Linux for writing and web browsing. I may use it for GIMP and other applications that would use more power, but I do not plan mine for games and intensive apps.

Latitude/precision / vostro ,which model or line series has the longest lifespan as a laptop that i will use daily for graphic designing.

Latitude 7420 is a toast - pretty warm and with almost everything soldered to a motherboard. I wouldn't buy it without at least 3Y warranty. Latitude 5420 is better in this case, but it can't take prolonged load - a strong throttling is applied after a minute or two of load (about 30% performance loss). Precision 7560 took prolonged load rather well and have probably the best touchpad in non-Mac devices
