I was a bit hesitant to spend so much on a waffle maker, but my long-standing motto of 'you get what you pay for' overcame me. I also felt a bit odd buying an electric appliance from All-Clad, a company who isn't well-known for appliances, but makes fantastic stovetop cookware. It's made in China FOR All-Clad so those thinking it's USA-made like other All-Clad products may be disappointed. I found this particular waffle maker on the recommendation from Serious Eats

I have used this waffle maker for a couple weeks and while I like it, I honestly don’t think it’s worth the money. We had a $25 one we’ve used for several years (at least once a week) that kicked he bucket, and after a lot of research I decided on this one. Loved this waffle maker! But today it almost burnt my house down! The timer wasn’t beeping for when it is heated up, so we opened the lid to check it & it was so hot & was making popping sounds! I had to put it in the sink. It set my fire alarms off too! I’m sure this isn’t the norm, my moms has lasted 15 yrs! But I’m so sad mine only lasted 2 yrs… we have taken really good care of it too!

It is the one element of impending failure I see on this applicance. I'd have given it a five if the build quality were better than that. Finally, the control panel slants away from the user. It would have been so much nicer if it protruded a bit and was tipped upwards so a standing person could see it

However, it is simply not a match for the All-clad. I want a louder beep and a waffle that is easier to get out of the machine. I wanted to love this but I’m afraid that I do not.

This waffle iron is easy to use and works pretty well. You plug it in and select a ‘brownness’ level and close the lid. It beeps when it is at temperature, you add your batter, close the lid and it beeps again when its done. It has a reservoir at the back that catches overflow batter - you should practice distributing your batter evenly because it is still possible to overflow the sides if you are not careful

Then pour in your waffle batter (I found that 1/3 cup of the batter I use is perfect). Close the top and wait. Once the ready light comes on and the tone goes off you are ready to remove a perfectly cooked waffle then add more batter and repeat. Incredibly simple

The timer is on the device is useless. The finish is so poor that my “ready” button is misspelled “reday.”

Favorite feature is that it tells you when the waffle is done - the ready light goes on and the device beeps (presumably temperature derived). So much better than a different waffle maker I had tried before that simply had a timer that had no sensitivity to the necessary cooking time. Easy to clean, very straightforward to use. I love my stack of waffles - going into the freezer for easy keto breakfasts and snacks!!!

I store mine on the shelf and it makes it easier to move around - Easy setting changes - Easy to clean - Truly non-stick. My old one was wearing thin in that regard - Seldom makes a mess. There's a trough around the waffle making are itself that tends to collect any overflow batter keeping it from spilling out. Cons: - It is heavy to move if you don't leave it on the counter all the time

The initial odor from the non-stick surface seems less than with others I have tried, though it is still there. I have found I use the maximum browning setting, but I am also using a gluten free mix. Not sure if the gf makes a difference; may just be that I prefer a crispier waffle. Breville is kind of like the Ferrari of kitchen appliances; they are stylish and perform well
