So I just got my new LG 34GN850-B. I was running ultrawide before, with an older LG that was only 2560x1080. This new one is so much better. 1080p to 1440p, way better colors, much better response time, HDR400, nicer curve screen, just overall a great upgrade

The G9/Neo will get you 240Hz, the 34GP950G-B will get you 180Hz, and the 34GP83A-B will get you 160Hz. So, there are definitely some decent options out there if you want to step up the fresh rate.

I think the design would be slightly better if they included the Sphere Lighting in this model. Seeing as to how it’s a grand for this beast, I don’t understand why it’s not included. Not a massive drawback, but rather a mere disappointment in my eyes. The system I’m using to drive the monitor uses a 2080 Ti and 8700K

We test monitors with a Datacolor SpyderX Elite colorimeter, a Murideo SIX-G signal generator, and Portrait Displays' CalMAN 5 software.

It's a great choice if you care about accurate colors, as it has amazing accuracy out of the box, a superb SDR color gamut, and incredible gradient handling, with no noticeable banding at all.

Only issues: 1) Monitor Stand is massive - will have to buy a monitor arm (any recommendations would be appreciated) 2) My box was damaged, missing DP Cable in the box (not Dell's fault). 3) Very inconvenient cable placement, you must take off the removable back panel and swing it around to connect, while this might not be an issue for some, with such a big stand and not a lot of desk room, it is a bit of a hinderance. But it does look clean, so this CON depends on the user. 4) Alienware Command Center cannot locate the monitor (not a big deal, I didn't buy it for the lighting features anyway, but it could be a problem for some gamers) 5) The stand pushes the monitor very forward, not a deal breaker, the monitor arm will fix this issue but from the back of the stand to the front of the monitor, it is around 9 inches, which is a problem if you have a narrow desk

Should I send it back and get the Alienware 38 for only 1k? Size wise I think I'd prefer that, but am not sure. The 34 is a bit short. I don't really care for the 49" but they are even less expensive than the Alienware, so I guess that's an option too. My final option is a 32" 4k to keep the same pixel clarity as what I have now
