But there are plenty of drawbacks that give me pause. Update: I ended up returning this laptop as the freezeups were happening more, even after I finished doing all of the windows/driver updates. Perhaps those will be fixed in future firmware patches, but I'd rather get a computer that functions "correctly" from day one. It's weird because as I mentioned, overall performance of this laptop is very impressive and far outshines my old 2 core macbook pro, but I don't have the same freezeups on the mac (running windows) - I imagine that this has something to do with lack of AMD drivers or something

6 - Lack of improvement gen-on-gen. Every manufacturer has coasted a bit throughout the pandemic, but ThinkPads haven't markedly improved in terms of weight, build quality, battery life, and even performance in the past 3-4 years (my frame of reference is a T480s from 2018 to P14s gen 2 in 2021). If 3 years yields little performance increase then why upgrade at all?.

Need input on two choices. Thinkbook 14p Gen 2 5800H/16gb or Thinkpad T14s Gen 2 5850U/32gb?

definitely the Thinkpad as u/onime1 said, 32 gig is far better. The higher price is justified (to a large extent ) I considered the T14s gen 2 as well before gong for my Thinkpad P15s gen 2. Besides you'll also get less bloat in a win 10 pro Thinkpad machine - unless that doesn't matter to you. The Thinkpad is worth the price hike

Battery Life

Great laptop for students on a budget!

The charger plug doesn’t fit nicely into the computer. I have to push it in harder than I would like to get it to charge, and I always worry that it’s going to break. However, the battery life is so great that I’ve only had to charge it once in the past three days. I’ll update later when I’ve spent more time with it

Screen Resolution

Great computer!

The screen resolution is phenomenal. The setup could not have been easier. As with all Windows products, you have to disable Edge and Cortana but that is easy to do. I would highly recommend this computer
