But there are plenty of drawbacks that give me pause. Update: I ended up returning this laptop as the freezeups were happening more, even after I finished doing all of the windows/driver updates. Perhaps those will be fixed in future firmware patches, but I'd rather get a computer that functions "correctly" from day one. It's weird because as I mentioned, overall performance of this laptop is very impressive and far outshines my old 2 core macbook pro, but I don't have the same freezeups on the mac (running windows) - I imagine that this has something to do with lack of AMD drivers or something

After a looot of research and self-examination on what i really need i think i might have found an excellent choice : the HP envy 14 (2021).It is equipped with an i5 1135g7, a GTX 1650ti MAX-Q (the same on the super expensive dell Xps 15),16 GB of RAM(soldered) and 512GB of storage. From the reviews i have seen it has a pretty good build quality, with excellent 16:10 FHD screen, good speakers and comfortable keyboard. The really interesting thing about this laptop is its performance, it has a really good cooling system with dual fans and big heat pipes, and for this reason it is able to use the i5 at max of its potential even outperforming similar i7 models (a ryzen would have been a better choice for this laptop however)

Battery Life

Great laptop for students on a budget!

The charger plug doesn’t fit nicely into the computer. I have to push it in harder than I would like to get it to charge, and I always worry that it’s going to break. However, the battery life is so great that I’ve only had to charge it once in the past three days. I’ll update later when I’ve spent more time with it

Wanting a Gaming Laptop with GTX/RTX and touch screen? That's blasphemy!

It was on sale and I was able to get it cheaper through my work for $1450ish, but I would be surprised if it doesn’t go on sale again soon. I love it so far, it can run any game I’ve tried on max settings at 1080p at least, and the 4K screen is beautiful. The only issue is the battery life, so I pretty much always have it plugged in whenever I use it. I’d recommend it if you can find a good deal and don’t mind short battery life
