The Swisstool feels so much better, no sharp edges, smooth action since day one, tools stay in the handle, safe to use. The Leatherman is cheaper - okay. Its so stiff that it takes time and attention when you want to use the blade. Closing the handles with the knife out is seriously not easy.

In the mid to late 90’s I started my multitool journey starting with Leatherman, Gerber then Victorinox. While I have great regard for Gerber and Leatherman I’ve had my Swisstool since 98 and have yet to find a better multitool. I use it to this day.

Has what I need and and has good knives. The Swisstool will probably remain a yardwork/hiking/weekend tool.

Update: Changing review to from 1 start to 4 stars. I received a new swistool, X and it doesn't have the problems of the last one. Victorinox Swisstools are the best multitools around. The design, materials, and overall qc are in a different league to LM and Gerber.

I have both the SpiritX and the Wave+. And I can say that both have their pros and cons. But to me the Wave+ is still better in many ways.
