Was looking for something more trebly and melodic than my Precision. Went to the store, tried some basses. Didn't know much about the Marcus Miller Sire basses, but fell in love immediately. The guy at the store even said "I could tell you liked that one", because I was jamming on it for quite some time haha.

Just bought my first bass after having played guitar for some time! It's a Sire V3 and I already love it to bits.

I have a Sire V3. Great value for the buck in my opinion.

It's really a pleasure to play. Fairly versatile (you can use the active mike but I mostly play on passive)

Marcus Miller V3 vs Squier CV ?

i think you get more bang for your buck with the sire V3, but they’re kinda hard to find. the sire has active electronics while the classic vibe is passive. i’ve been really impressed by every sire i’ve played so if you can find one, i think they’re the best j style bass in that price range.

Opinions on the Squire Classic Vibe 60's Jazz Bass?

Consider a Sire Marcus Miller bass. Amazing value and playability. I’ve been ignoring my Dingwall a lot since picking up a V5 on a whim.

Which Squire Bass to Buy

Your other option are the contemporary series which, in my opinion, isn’t much of an upgrade from the affinity, and much more expensive, or the bronco bass which is cute and super lightweight, but I typically see parents buying those for their children more than most other basses. A really great alternative in your price range is the Marcus Miller V3 by Sire. It’s designed just like a jazz bass, and I personally find it to be higher quality than any squier product. The V3 is about $80 less than the classic vibe at $399, and I would say it’s a better buy.

Looking for advice on gear

Sire Marcus Miller V and P series has a lot of good options. P style, J style, active or passive. Most are under $1000 and there are used ones you can find online.
