Samsung QN85A

You're going to be disappointed at so many levels. Now, if you're going from a much older TV to the QN85A, well, obviously it's better than a 10 year ...

Wasn’t impressed with the Vizio in the store (curious to hear info from you guys), the LG was too expensive, and the Samsung seemed really good. What are some other TVs I should be looking at and why? 90% of usage will be Directv and netflix. The other 10% is my occasional PS5 play time.

The biggest issue we have is the TV frequently drops the internet connection. None of my other devices (phones, computers, firesticks, Alexa) report any issues. The new qleds from samsung are pretty good (qn85a/qn90a). In one of linus's videos, they said it's really close to an OLED and doesn't come with the risk of burn in.

TV -Great picture/etc otherwise worthless if you were looking for a smart TV that you can stream audio through apps. Amazon music cannot be shuffled through playlists - so you have to listen in order of artists, etc. Biggest issue: TV/soundbar (also Samsung) auto shuts in anywhere from 3-15 minutes....

We had a QN85a delivered on work the other day and being ADS I was skeptical but it’s fine lining, lack of image smearing and sharpness of the display on bright conditions was stunning. Of course when it comes to complex patterns on black backgrounds the Per Pixel control takes the cake and is way superior but with other content I thought the Neo display was superior than the C1 we tested it against. HDR it really dominated for top end detail.

A pretty okay upgrade, but in some ways not really better than my last Samsung TV with pseudo HDR. It occasionally gets stuck pixels that fix themselves and it’s a larger screen so I HAVE to sit further back or pixelation is noticeable around the edges of text or menus. The QN85A is not even close to the C1 regarding contrast. C1 is the winner unless you game in a room brighter than the sun, and I've found concerns over brightness to be very overblown. My OLED is so bright compared to the P65 Vizio it replaced I can't imagine needing anything brighter. QN85A is going to give you bloom in dark scenes and some report a dirty screen effect as well.

Ok so I got the QN85a a couple months back, and from day1 it has bothered me with a notification begging me to go to service mode and set my model name and front color. Now definitely regret I did because I might have messed this up badly. I went into service mode (had an old service remote lying around) and updated my model and front color.
