Today I bought a Profitec Pro 700 with Flow Control from WLL. I cannot wait for it to arrive.

I previously had a Barista Express, I was never happy with it, but I am glad it broke.

Dad uses it the Pro 700 for instant coffee. I also use it for ramen. In my dads defense though, I’m not up that early (4am) to make him his drink of choice (americano)

Serious concerns about maintenance and longevity with a very tech driven machine. Runner up: Profitec 700 - can pull great shots, E61 group, solid manufacturer and longevity/reliability.

The Profitec Pro 700 is a fantastic machine, more than capable enough for almost all home baristas. I think most people would not distinguish espresso quality between that and the LMLM.

Discovered James, f$@&!!! Now living happily with a Profitec 700 and eureka xl, and quite literally realize that 1000 dollars doesn’t get me anywhere, the next upgrade is in the thousands… this forum really helped me shape my views of how inferior super automatics are to a proper semi automatic.

With that budget you should look into the Lelit Bianca or the Profitec Pro 700. If you hate E61 machines then maybe think about the LMLM used or open box.

Synch, Profitec Pro 700, and Bianca are the Big 3 in your price range. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. The Bianca has flow control built in. You can add it to the Synch or PP 700 if you want.
