Poseidon triton. $650 excellent first road bike inexpensive enough that it’s not a big deal when in 12 months you want something nicer and will be able to make a much better more informed decision as far as geometry style etc. because you’ll be that much more knowledgeable. But nice enough that it’s actually a really decent bike.

Personally I highly recommend Poseidon Triton at $650 I believe that it is the best value for money new road bike available on the market right now. you can spend the rest of your budget on a helmet (I recommend a Giro Register, $60 with MIPS) , front and rear lighting (tons of excellent options out there but I like the Bontrager flare, Knog Cobber, and Niterider Sentry aero 260 rear lights and the Bontrager Ion, and Light&Motion front lights) and bib shorts ( https://theblackbibs.com/ ).

It is a good bike and fairly priced, Weight is good (22lbs) and good for distance and relatively fast. Comes with low grade tires and need to be replaced immediately with tires that are puncture resistant. The seat is also substandard. Personally I highly recommend the Poseidon Triton it is a fantastic bike and incredible value for money being only $650. Plus, in six months to a year or so when you do decide to get a new bike (and you will regardless of what bike you get now) you should be able to easily pass it on for close to what you paid for it.

I love the look and feel of the bike. But the chain slips out of gear sometimes. I will have to take it to a bike shop to make adjustments.

Going to echo the choirs here. Poseidon Triton for MicroSHIFT R10 (2x10) drivetrain. BikesDirect if you want new Shimano/SRAM drivetrain. Or look for a used bike with Shimano 105.

Comparable with bikes costing way more than this. Features usually found on higher priced machines include carbon forks, a Shimano Claris gearset and shaped chainstays and seatstays. Great road bike. Came 80% assembled in the box, took it to LBS for full assembly. Love the geometry, and the fact that this is a true XXL sized 61cm bike (this will really fit 6'3 to 6'7).
