 So if I am on a full day out using it a lot, I would begin to worry around 3, 4 o'clock. This is of course subjective, user dependent, and the charging speeds are again just okay. Decent-ish, but at 50% in 30 minutes charge, there are better options out there quite simply. So again, an improvement to that with the 8 Series would be nice

 Now of course, two of the big selling points of a Pixel phone is number one, it's camera, and number two, stock Android software. Android how Android should be, in theory. Because interestingly, the thing is, for many people, it's never quite been like that. Over the years, Google, according to many reports, have been plagued by software issues on their phones, and I can never quite get my head round it, because that was the one thing, the main thing, that Google are known for, and they had full control over

 Now one area of the Pixel phones which haven't quite been up to scratch with the iPhones in the previous year or so has been in battery. Now we do have, with the 7 Pro, for all intents and purposes, the same 5000 mAh capacity, which was decent on the 6 Pro, but got battered out the park by the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Thankfully for Google, the disappointing drop-off from Apple with their 14 Pro Max has made it more of a level playing field. Although I do still find I'm reaching for my charger slightly earlier in the evening than I would personally like

Are there really issues with the image quality of the pixel 6? From what I have seen it does an amazing job producing a very detailed and beautiful image. There are factors that the iPhone does better in some situations but the differences between the two are very minor at this point. 

I still see people grab the most expensive iPhone or Android phones to fill their Instagram up with terrible photos. For me the capabilities and ease of me capturing a shot is more important than anything. I thought the first gen pixel had an excellent camera and I have captured some of the best shots I've ever taken on a smartphone on that camera. What makes a great photo is lighting, composition, as well as the subject. The pixel peeping stuff on phones these days means absolutely nothing in terms of a great from a bad image. I love the pixel because I feel it offers tools to help me capture a great image quicker or more efficiently but in terms of quality, the pixel line has checked that box awhile ago and has stayed there. 

I have watched camera reviews on YouTube where people say, "there's a little bit of noise when you look close enough in the shadows of this photo. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!". Then they proceed to show their photo samples and they clearly don't know how to take a good photo where even if it was the perfect camera taking the shot it would still be a horrible photo. 

But yeah, the pixel 6 has great image processing and unbelievable photo quality for a smartphone. If you do feel it is lacking in some way, what is it?

Yes ofcourse. It's so strange that people are not aware of this, I thought it was common knowledge that Pixel phones improve over time by now.

Google is usually issuing several camera app updates per year, for the 3 years the device is officially supported. Also during these years, the camera app will add some of the upcoming features, tricks or gimmicks that they will release with Pixel 7 and Pixel 8, just wait and see.

I can tell you that when I got the Pixel 2 XL, I received several upgrades, including a big improvement on white balance (taking pics at night on the street was so bad due to how the camera was adjusting white vs yellow street lights), also I received Night Sight which is an amazing feature and later on I received Astrophotography, which is gives mindblowing results compared to a normal photo. Also over time they improved the horizon handling, because during the first months with the phone almost all my photos were rotated by a few degrees while I was holding the phone straight - they somehow corrected this in an update. I also got a new method of taking panorama photos than what I had when I first got the device. I also got the following new features that were not available when I got the device: Google Lens suggestions, social share, dirty lens warning, the ability to store videos in HEVC/x265 format.

Other than that, there's also a rather big developer support for custom GCam apps, so I even got other features on my phone that Google never offered for Pixel 2, including the "focus tracking" ability, the ability to set focus distance in night sight or the ability to access all 4 of the stabilization modes when recording video.

All in all, the photo capabilities of my (now very aging, 4 years old) Pixel 2 XL have greatly improved over time.

If you look at their history (which is no guarantee), the Pixels have used the same image sensor from Pixel 3-5. They have used software to keep making tweaks. My Pixel 4a (imho) takes better photos than my wife's precious iPhone 11 Pro. If Google continues with this trend and sticks with the same sensor, I can see little camera tweaks to make a Great Camera even better.

I think it's also important to note that Google had years and years to really find tune and make and really old camera work amazing and it did get better over the years. I've seen about every review. I've noticed  many didn't know what they were doing.  I've also noticed many who use the iPhone as a comparison and always pic the opposite picture I'd pick.  I take most with a grain of salt.   Some better ones are starting to come out.

depend. u really wanna know exactly the answer? ask the patent department internally. people usually dont care tho, but camera =/= image quality because of the research. which is exactly the answer why picture's vibes usually (or mostly) better taken by iphone. and no, its not a joke. and yes, of course dedicated camera is always far superior with versatility and how "analog" you can tune the parameters. but if u just simply ask "the quality", no. it wont improve much, especially in the span of maximum 4 years, where you will buy another phone by that time.. thats just simply how the "trend" in the industry really works nowdays. so dont buy anything in the hope that it will get better. at least in smartphone industry.

I don’t know, the 6 Pro has been underwhelming for me, coming from a 4XL.  I really expected better from the hardware upgrades, but I’ve been having so much more trouble taking clear photos.  It feels like I can’t get a good shot unless I‘m at zoom distances

 I have a really cool video on cinematic blur on my Instagram page that I have pinned so you can watch that and it's shot entirely on the pixel 7 pro. Now one advantage iPhone users actually have on their cinematic mode is that they have aperture control to change the amount of blur in each video whether you know it's before or after filming and they can also change the focus before and after shooting which you can't do on the pixel 7 and 7 pro yet. Now one thing that they did add to the iPhone 14 series is that you can film cinematic mode in 4k in 24p or 30p while the pixel 7 series can only shoot in 1080p 24 which is fine especially for social media but I would love to have a 4k option here for more detail in every shot but for a first generation release on the pixel it's not bad just make sure you have good lighting to get the best results. And yeah that's pretty much my experience with the pixel 7 pro after using it for two weeks

 You can take a photo shot on a different phone or you know camera and process it with a pixel 7 series and it'll do its best to unblur it. It's a pretty cool feature to have but I have a feeling this might be coming to other pixel devices in the future but who knows. Now in terms of photo quality I mean I've always loved how pixel photos look out of the camera and the same applies to the 7 pro. Like the going theme with the pixel 7 series the photos look more refined the photos look really good with the right amount of contrast and color accurate colors

The HDR processing is top notch where it's not over exaggerating the highlights and the shadows together it's not overly processed or too sharp which I really appreciate as well and in low light I noticed that they look just as good as photos with ample lighting and I also noticed that white balance looks very true to life which some phones actually struggle with. Plus night sight and astrophotography mode is just unreal on this phone

Why the Pixel 7 Pro is Perfect!

My partner and I have had OnePlus phones since the 3T and have really liked them for the most part. 

We are based in the US and currently using cricket wireless.  

We have been eyeing the OnePlus 10 Pro but wanted to hear other ideas and opinions first. 

What we like about OnePlus:
-Oxygen OS (which unfortunately the newest version I've heard some not great things about?)
-Pretty good camera, we're both constantly taking pictures
-good amount of storage
-the ram, we like our phones moving fast 
-the size, the 7t isn't huge or too heavy 
-dash charging, it's super useful but I hear other brands are doing it too now 
- the brand, we do prefer supporting non Samsung and apple brands. 
-the alert slider (for me at least, it's so useful) 


What we're not crazy about OnePlus:
-sometimes battery life isn't great
- partners phone randomly died so we had to get a cheap replacement. It died right after the extended warranty ended. 

Things we really want:
- good camera
- good RAM and storage (we take a lot of pictures and we want to be able to hop between apps quickly) 
- decent battery life. We aren't often away from a charger though, so it can be a bit flexible. 
- Size matters lol, we both have smaller hands so screen size and weight should (hopefully) not be too excessive. My partners current cheap phone is 6.8 inches and weighs 7.51 ounces and it's just a bit too big and heavy for either of us to comfortably use lol especially when a decent case is put on. 

Things we're flexible on: 
- Screen or gaming capabilities, neither of us use our phones for gaming all that much 
- headphone jack isn't needed 
- sound quality isn't all that important either. We very rarely use our phones for music without a Bluetooth speaker or headphones. 

Budget: 
Around $1,000/each. 

Carrier:

<div class="md"><p>My partner and I have had OnePlus phones since the 3T and have really liked them for the most part. </p>

<p>We are based in the US and currently using cricket wireless.  </p>

<p>We have been eyeing the OnePlus 10 Pro but wanted to hear other ideas and opinions first. </p>

<p>What we like about OnePlus:
-Oxygen OS (which unfortunately the newest version I&#39;ve heard some not great things about?)
-Pretty good camera, we&#39;re both constantly taking pictures
-good amount of storage
-the ram, we like our phones moving fast 
-the size, the 7t isn&#39;t huge or too heavy 
-dash charging, it&#39;s super useful but I hear other brands are doing it too now 
- the brand, we do prefer supporting non Samsung and apple brands. 
-the alert slider (for me at least, it&#39;s so useful) </p>

<p>What we&#39;re not crazy about OnePlus:
-sometimes battery life isn&#39;t great
- partners phone randomly died so we had to get a cheap replacement. It died right after the extended warranty ended. </p>

<p>Things we really want:
- good camera
- good RAM and storage (we take a lot of pictures and we want to be able to hop between apps quickly) 
- decent battery life. We aren&#39;t often away from a charger though, so it can be a bit flexible. 
- Size matters lol, we both have smaller hands so screen size and weight should (hopefully) not be too excessive. My partners current cheap phone is 6.8 inches and weighs 7.51 ounces and it&#39;s just a bit too big and heavy for either of us to comfortably use lol especially when a decent case is put on. </p>

<p>Things we&#39;re flexible on: 
- Screen or gaming capabilities, neither of us use our phones for gaming all that much 
- headphone jack isn&#39;t needed 
- sound quality isn&#39;t all that important either. We very rarely use our phones for music without a Bluetooth speaker or headphones. </p>

<p>Budget: 
Around $1,000/each. </p>

Time to upgrade our OnePlus 7T phones

 But as far as battery life goes, like the iPhone 13 pro for me was better than the iPhone 14 pro. They both have a really solid battery life though, when they're getting through like a full day. The iPhone like with this size in particular does a little bit better because it is a little beefier with the battery while still having a slightly smaller display than the pixel. But Google does a really good job with your standby

The REAL Reason I'm Switching to Pixel 7 Pro (from iPhone 14 Pro)

Per the title, I've reached the end of my current contract and am now paying off a phone I've already 'bought'. Time to upgrade or switch to a SIM only contract. 

My trust Huawei P30 Pro has done a great job and if it weren't for the USB / charging port starting to have an unreliable connection, I wouldn't *need* to upgrade. 

Love the cameras, battery, software runs smoothly, decent storage etc... no complaints on any of it. 

Since it's not entirely reliable, I don't want to be locked into a SIM contract on a dying phone. 

So I'm looking at alternatives. 

* The camera really matters, forcing me to mainly consider flagship offerings from e.g. Google, Samsung or (yes I know) Apple. I prefer Android though. 

* Also keen on a good solid battery life - especially if I'm using the phone as a car satnav - I can't have it quitting on me on longer trips. 

* Build quality matters. I last held an older Samsung Galaxy that felt a bit plasticy to me. Keen to avoid that again. 

The Pixel 6 Pro is my current 'favourite' but I've seen *lots* of division between it being a great phone... and a real pain in the arse. 

ALSO I gather a new Pixel may be announced (launched?) in just a few weeks, mid September. 

What's my best bet here please folks? Happy to wait a short while, but not months and months (gotta decide *some time* this year). 

I'm UK based so the handset must be available and supported here please!

UK based and want to upgrade my P30 Pro: Considering the Pixel 6 Pro, S22 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro or... waiting!

 I've been using these songs for about a week now and yes, they are very similar to last year. They're the same prices too. But more than ever this year, and you can see it at every corner, the Pixel special is software solutions to hardware problems. And this is in contrast to, say, the Samsung or the Xiaomi special, which is throw as much raw hardware horsepower at the thing as possible

 It's polished aluminum on the Pro and matte aluminum on the Pixel 7. Then both phones also get brighter displays, up to 1500 nits peak on the 7 Pro and 1400 nits on the regular Pixel 7. Can't fake that with software. And then the 7 Pro display is larger, slightly curved over the edges, and a generally better looking display with less off axis rainbowing

 Like just this morning today, drove into the studio, had an hour long commute with Waze On, full brightness, GPS, streaming Spotify audio, threw Bluetooth to the car, got here with like 85% battery left. And I'm consistently ending days with 30 to 40%. Six to seven hours is not a problem. Yeah, I've had very good battery life on these phones

Im getting $160 for my cracked OnePlus 8Pro trade-in from both Google or Oneplus.

 Which makes the price for 10T $524 and 6pro $543. The 6 Pro i'd need to buy a $25 charging brick too.

Being the price is almost the same what is a better phone?

Oneplsu 10T or Pixel 6 Pro?

I love have a Pixel phone because the forced apps and skins of Samsung and other makers just piss me off every time I have to interact with them. 

I just upgraded from a Pixel 4a to a 6a, and finding myself annoyed at the size upgrade. Not only is it taller by almost a centimeter (and I have relatively small hands) but the weight difference is quite noticeable.   


iPhone has several sizes available, including the mini and the SE. Would it kill Google to come out with an actual low-end phone? Anyone else feeling overburdened this year?
