- Good Keyboard - I will spent a lot of time using it so it must be comfortable. I currently have a Thinkpad X220 and that thing is great in this regard. - 16GB+of RAM - 16GB is fine as long as it's upgradeable as I won't need more for now.

It's what you'd find in a Thinkpad X220, and those are highly regarded as being good Linux machines. Not the best GPU for gaming, but should be perfectly serviceable for other tasks.

A used work station like a lenovo thinkpad from the p range or a HP zbook no more than a few years old and get the best spec you can find.

I would definitely look into business laptop. Used ones can be very affordable. dell latitude, lenovo thinkpad, hp elitebook...

My Lenovo Thinkpad from nearly a decade ago hasn't been working too well for me lately, sometimes struggling with video calls and buffering videos. Also, it's graphics card isn't good enough to run a few games I'd like to play (Civ 6, Ori & the Blind Forest, Journey). Not sure if that's specifically something I'll have to look for or if all modern computers will be up to the task. I'm in the US, looking for something <1K.

Currently im using a thinkpad x220, absolutely love the thing. Problem is it's from 2011 and while I've been able to prolong my system by connecting an Egpu, even that is limited by the expresscard slot only being pcie 2 and eventually I'm going to have to upgrade. What im looking for is a laptop with a non-chicklet style keyboard but more recent specs. There are some really heavy duty gaming laptops that just put a full on cherry MX keyboard in there, however they're much too bulky and waaaay over what im willing or able to pay (MSI GT83, acer predator 21X).

Netbook form factor with a Thinkpad x220 quality keyboard, 11” fullhd or higher screen that can be used in direct sunlight like the PixelQi and some quad core cpu with hardware acceleration to watch videos and like 8gb memory. That’s all i need for on the go.
