Is there any particular reason why the T430 is more popular than the T530?

All of my ThinkPads are 15 inch ones. (And yes, I need to update my flair at some point.). T530 is a really nice machine, but people get what they prefer. My machines are 15" ones because I prefer them (E590, W520, P52, T61p).

You cannot do external monitors both at 2560x ... One has to be 1080

Nice laptop, but if you are planning on running two external monitors at 2560, you cannot.. The stupid minidisplay port cannot provide this... i wish this had two hdmi ports instead... for real external monitor PC use, this is not a good choice.

what are the best cost benefit laptops for working with computational modeling and 3D modeling?

A used work station like a lenovo thinkpad from the p range or a HP zbook no more than a few years old and get the best spec you can find.

Very powerful laptop

Excellent laptop, however beware if you buy a laptop with M2 SSD only it will not have any slots to add a SATA drive. You will need a separate "ThinkPad Mobile Workstation Storage Kit" to be able to connect a SATA drive internally.

Need a laptop with VERY durable hinges please! Suggestions?

I would definitely look into business laptop. Used ones can be very affordable. dell latitude, lenovo thinkpad, hp elitebook...

My Lenovo Thinkpad from nearly a decade ago hasn't been working too well for me lately, sometimes struggling with video calls and buffering videos. Also, it's graphics card isn't good enough to run a few games I'd like to play (Civ 6, Ori & the Blind Forest, Journey). Not sure if that's specifically something I'll have to look for or if all modern computers will be up to the task. I'm in the US, looking for something <1K.

I have a Thinkpad P52 with i7-8850H vPro processor, NVIDIA Quadro P1000 4GB , 16 GB of RAM and an outstanding 2TB ssd nvme . Till this day, this machine has been able to surpass anything that I throw at it .

With the P52, many small things did not work properly. The built-in microphone (a selling point in the ad!) was so noisy, it was useless. When booting up, it felt like it switched on 3 times to get out of BIOS (machine on, machine off, machine on, machine off, machine on, until finally to the Bitlocker screen).

After so many years my work replaces my laptop with something a bit more up-to-date. During this refresh, they have given me the opportunity to purchase the laptop. The laptop I have and am being offered is a Lenovo ThinkPad P52 for £505. I received it around July 2020 and has been used about 8-10 hours a day, excluding weekends, for Software Development.
