Lenovo ThinkPad P15

I have been daily driving a P15 (mostly as a desktop replacement for competitive gaming, along with school work) for the past 6 months, and I can safely say that this is the lowest quality ThinkPad I have ever owned, excluding my T450S. The palmrest is popping out near the keyboard, the trackpoint scroll button is tilting to the side, the screen broke from a fall inside of a Targus NotePac, and both hinge caps were loose out of the factory. Meanwhile, my T61 survived high pressure water being sprayed all over it and being dropped down a flight of hardwood stairs, my T40 and 600E were abused for years before I got my hands on them, and my T430 looks new after 9 years of use.

Bottom Line:. This is a good Linux workstation. I am extremely happy with the performance and stability after a few minor tweaks and I think that it has a good place in the P-Series if you don’t want to shell out for the P1 or P15 and still want something nice and portable.

The RAM is upgraded to more than I need, and I've got 2xSSD+1xHDD in it for storage. I have a (more or less) blank check from work to buy a new laptop, but I don't see anything in the current lineup which wouldn't be a compromise.. My Lenovo Thinkpad from nearly a decade ago hasn't been working too well for me lately, sometimes struggling with video calls and buffering videos. Also, it's graphics card isn't good enough to run a few games I'd like to play (Civ 6, Ori & the Blind Forest, Journey).
