The Kobalt XTR Max 24V is our hands-down favorite for heavy-duty tasks. During our head-to-head speed assessment, this model outperformed every other impact driver that we've seen. The XTR showed a ridiculous amount of torque, maxing out our torque wrench for both fastening and loosening large nuts. We love that this model has four different settings, including three speeds and an "ASSIST" mode that slowly increases RPMs to reduce the chances of cross-threading. When we added the XTR to our review, we had to rewrite the battery scores for every other model because this version's battery outlasts all of them. 
The XTR is not without its flaws. We found that the light is relatively dim and doesn't do the best job of illuminating a dark work area. This may not be a deal breaker for most people, but a low-quality light can become problematic if you're working in attics or crawlspaces. We were a bit disappointed that the chuck does not have a quick insert function. This technology is a bit outdated &mdash; most newer drivers allow for one-handed insertion of bits. Despite our short list of small complaints, this model is our top recommendation for those that require top-notch power and speed.

 Those Gen 1 tools had 650 inch pounds of torque. Both of these are packing 850 inch pounds and this is where we finally see everything kind of coming to fruition as well because when we look up to XTR those tools have 1200 inch pounds of torque. So what we've got is an improvement on Gen 1 not so much a replacement for the XTR line. Now there's one other thing worth noting for the performance on the hammer drill

 Based on my last 3 impacts (Milwaukee, Dewalt and Earthquacke) this one is my favorite based on Price/Power/Quality.

  It is a little heavier and maybe bulkier than other brands I have used, but for the price this is a crazy deal! The battery has lasted me around 6-8 jobs and it still has juice left, it is actually quiet compared to my other impacts and the case (that I will probably never use) it is quite nice for the price point.  All in all, this is the best purchase you can make if you need an affordable impact. I waited a few weeks to post this as I wanted to really get to test this impact gun.  All I can say is "BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK" this thing is pretty powerful, I have done quite a few jobs the last few weeks and not once this impact has had a hard time removing a nut or bolt, everything has broken loose in less than a second, quite impressive. Powerful and great battery life

I bought this because it had a really high reverse torque rating (1400). The torque rating is a lie, tried for 30 minutes to take off a crankshaft bolt with it, only for someone else to take it off with a snap on rated at 800.

Yesterday was my first use of this impact wrench.  I had hoped that, with its 1200 ft-lbs of advertised torque, I would be freed from manually breaking loose the lug nuts on my M35A2 deuce and a half.  Well, it couldn't break them loose.  But I still like the tool

Remove The Battery To Change Sockets?!?

I was skeptical about getting this because of the price but I am so glad I picked this up. It has all the power to do any job I may come across. And yes there are a lot of guys out there that make fun of our kobalt tools but I say when they want to pay for a higher priced brand then I'll gladly use one. This thing is very impressive

I have this XTR, compact, and large 1/2” drive Kobalt impacts. This one has crazy good power. Comparable to the Milwaukee high torque. I keep this XTR in the toolbox and the other large impact in my truck in case I need to swap a tire

Best Kobalt Impact

Has an awesome amount of power with 3 levels of control. I would put this impact up against Dewalt and Milwaukee. Price for tool and quality is great and I can’t wait to try it on a bug project. This one is worth the extra over the other Kobalt Impact
