This makes no sense. There has to be more to this then punishing someone for using an Android phone. Most arbitrary punishments seem arbitrary on the surface but when you dig deeper there is usually some logic behind it.

The best example is Stalin's "Not a step back" order during WW2. On the surface it seems sadistic (and is) but the logic is that battles in the past were won, even against seemingly insurmountable odds, when soldiers didn't give into their fears and stood their ground.

I've run into this too. But it's not been the android that was the problem it's the proprietary nonsense that Apple phones pull. Apple is only reliable with other Apple things. Group messages would work sometimes and simply not send to non Apple devices other times. I'm not sure what was going on but we all had to switch to a third party app. It's ridiculous, really.

My adult niece used to always get Samsung phones because her cousin worked at Samsung and got her highly discounted phones. Then when her kids got to high school and parents were trying to arrange sports stuff, everyone else had an iPhone and were using iMessage, so she switched to  iPhone.
