I keep looking at the Inov-8 TERRAULTRA G 270 as a shoe option for hiking (specifically the Skurka WRHR). Graphene sole appears to have great durability and grip on rock and the cushion looks like it will be decent for high mileage days.

Also Amazon just delivered the Inov-8 Terraultra G270 and that will be going back since, again, way too narrow. My normal shoes size is 9 4E, so the size 10 LP5 was a bit too long for me.

Pain in shin muscles may be caused by a tearing force due to heel striking. Therefore, zero drop is a good choice, and not too much cushion. I would recommend Inov-8 Terraultra G 270, but shoes are quite individual of course.

If you want a trail shoe now the Inov-8 Terraultra G 270 won every single award last year for best overall trail shoe and lots of other categories. I was skeptical and held off until recently but man oh man they are absolutely incredible!

I have the chance to get a good deal on a pair of black Inov-8 Terraultra G 270 (now re-branded as Trailfly) and like the fit. If you have suggestions for other shoes, I would be happy to hear about them!. The impossible task of finding a shoe for everything... I read good reviews of the Terraultra as a versatile shoe both on this sub and r/trailrunning.

I have left Altra and started testing some Inov-8 TerraUltra G270. They are on the widest last that Inov-8 makes but they are not Altra footbox wide by any means. The graphene may be hype but so far, they have had much better wet traction than any Altra model I have owned.

The last recommendation I can give you are Inov-8 Terraultra 270Gs (0mm drop). They don't come in a GTX version but are closest to the Lonepeaks if you can even say that compared to the other options I mentioned. Keep in mind I have used around 5 different Altra models and the others I've mentioned to give you an idea.
