No matter what speed it is operating on, the fan emits a pleasant wind-like noise with a low pitch that provides a calm and enjoyable background. A unique feature of the hOmeLabs 40" is that it oscillates inside an outer casing atop a strong base, proving to be one of the most stable in our testing. 
Compared to the competition, this model is larger, but not unusually so when considering its output. We found its shiny black casing to be aesthetically pleasing. Though the hOmeLabs 40" can be a bit noisy at times, it's no more intrusive than a low wind. The options for a timer are helpful, though limited, and we wish there were a couple of additional low-speed options to contrast its high power settings. All in all, this is an appealing, sturdy fan for practically every room in the home due to the power options and components.

Nice features but has problems

 Bad things: Very noisy, even at low speed and sleep mode. The noise comes not from the motor or bearings, it is an airflow noise. Low speed is not low enough to make a light brize and silence. Low speed - is a strong airflow and noise

I loved this fan when I bought it in August 2020. I only used it for about a month and stored it for summer 2021. Two months into summer it's working but the speed increases and decreases all on its own. I like it on high for night sleeping and it's not working well enough for the cooling effect I had before this week

Less than 1 year and it's not working properly

 With fan speed at LOW, the noise is still not as low as I hoped (it's about the same as [or even a bit more than] my 15-year-old one set at LOW). I tried to turn on the SLEEP mode, hoping that would lower the fan speed even lower (than the LOW), but that SLEEP mode seemed to do nothing! (the noise/speed is unchanged). I noticed the NATURAL mode would vary the fan speed up and down, and the SLEEP mode keeps the fan speed constant. Is that all the SLEEP mode does? I thought the SLEEP mode would move air really slow, like a light breeze, to make the fan more silent during sleep

It works as supposed to. Wish the SLOW speed could be slower...

 The timer on the Lasko changes speed over time and this one doesn’t have that option. In my opinion the sound and timer made the Lasko the better choice for the bedroom, but I was sad because I like the modern look of this fan so much better. I ended up putting this fan in the living room, the larger room means the louder noise isn’t an issue, and since it blows stronger it circulates the air nicely. I point it straight at me when I work out, it’s very nice! I’d recommend this fan, it just didn’t work out as a bedroom fan for me

 We have a smaller fan, Vornado, that is quieter, but we wanted the tower style for in our bedroom
