The Hamilton Beach 68330N 4-Quart is one of the most cost-efficient ways to make large quantities of ice cream at home. Pre-freezing your components isn't necessary, and making multiple back-to-back batches is simple, provided you have ample rock salt and ice. It makes delicious, soft ice cream that's barely firm enough to hold a scoop shape. Overall, it's straightforward to use, with a motorized paddle that churns the ice cream and automatically stops once it reaches the correct consistency. 
Unfortunately, this ice cream maker is exceptionally loud, bordering on ear-splitting. It's almost impossible to carry on a conversation over it, and our testers resorted to wearing earplugs or noise-canceling headphones while it was churning. Cleanup can also be a giant hassle, as you have to deal with around 3 cups of rock salt and 12 pounds of melted ice per batch. In addition to the machine being hard to clean, it always seemed to make a giant mess across the surrounding area &mdash; even when we laid out a plastic tray to contain it. The Hamilton Beach 68330N is great if you love traditionally made ice cream, are shopping on a budget, and need large batches.  If your buying this because you like ice cream and want to save money..Don't do it. in general Ice cream through my experience is expensive to make

 2 cups of strawberrys $2.05. 1 stick of cream cheese $1.00  Understand that even with these ingredients used they will not fill the canister up to the line

  In the directions the manual says put a towel or newspaper over the unit for best results. On top of the unit is the fan placing a towel or newspaper or the unit would defeat the purpose of the fan and probably blow the motor.  Ingredients cost money. I buy in bulk cutting down my cost but I find making ice cream on this machine Expensive

I wanted an Ice cream make to see if making it was more economical than buying it from the store.  The Hamilton Beach 689330R works. If your a person who wants to create your own flavors this Ice cream machine will make soft ice cream in about about 40 minutes after storing it in a freezer hard ice cream in about 2 hours.  Cost this ice cream maker out the door for the price is outstanding
