 It's still not quite at the iPhone's level of clarity, especially on that selfie camera. Like I have this regular Discord call that I do with some YouTube friends, and my picture has become a little fainter and a little fuzzier since I switched from the 14 Pro. But this is still not to be laughed at. It picks up voices really clearly thanks to something Google calls speech enhancement, which gets rid of background noise

 So about a week before I switched over to these phones, I decided to go back to last year's Pixel 6 Pro to see where Google left off. And I was still, even in 2022, mostly blown away. It's this fantastical software experience that just feels alive. The phone takes some of the best point and click photos I've ever seen, compared to not just 2022 smartphones, but even professional cameras

 The autofocus is now surprisingly precise, like it can pick out really fine objects and still nail the focus. And then if you want to focus on something moving, you have literally the best tracked focus available on a smartphone. The new cinematic mode also benefits from this impeccable focus tracking, but the fact that it's capped at 1080p versus the iPhone which can now do 4K makes me not really want to use it. And then you've got the Pixel 7 Pro, which has the same core, but on top of that it has a 5x zoom camera, which paired with all the fancy optimisations the Pixel 7s are doing to zoom shots anyways, means that actually you can take a zoom photo all the way up to about 12x and not even be able to tell that it's not optical zoom

 It's a good design choice. Not to mention that in low light, while this isn't a giant leap over last year's Pixel, the fact that it captures those night shots in less time, leading to less blurry photos, combined with better dynamic range than the iPhone 14 Pro that controls the bright spots, keeps it very much on par with the best phones out there. The only caveats are a slightly exaggerated colour palette, which I don't hate to be honest, and a slightly weaker ultrawide camera, which becomes apparent when you look at the sky in this shot. But here's the even more important news

Google Pixel 7 & 7 Pro Review - Ridiculous.

The S21 Ultra is the only android phone which I believe can compare to the Pixel camera and even better.

Bring back the good fingerprint reader!

 But so far it's holding up very well across a wide range of conditions as you would kind of expect from a Pixel device. For your video shenanigans you can shoot up to Ultra HD 4K resolution footage at 30 or 60 frames per second and that's with the primary sensor and also that ultra wide angle shooter too. And again stay tuned for my full verdict on the Pixel 7's video chops but here's just a couple of sample clips of little fluffy beings doing cute things. You've also got the fresh new cinematic blur video mode which as you can see there can actually blur out the background in a bokeh style effect again

 You don't quite get that same wraparound action from the screen that you do on the Pro model, it is a perfectly flat display, but to be fair, I probably prefer that anyway. 197 grams, the Pixel 7 certainly still has a heft to it, although it's not too troublesome. You once again have an aluminium frame here on the Pixel 7, although it's a matte finish here, which again is probably better because it repels fingerprints. And this smartphone is reasonably thick, although we're not quite talking iPhone levels of chunk here

 It's the same ruddy camera we found on the Pixel 6 from last year, same sensor size, same aperture level, everything. But there have been some tweaks to the camera software and features and to be fair the Pixel 6 sported one of the best cameras of last year. One of the new bits on here is the long exposure mode which can add a nice blurry effect to your subject to show them in motion. And you've also got the action pan effort as well which can blur out the background, make it look like they're really nipping along at a good pace

 Sadly the charging tech, not particularly pant wittily thrilling, it is just 30 watt wired charging on here, although you've at least got your wireless charging so you can do that if you can't be arsed to bung a cable in the bottom. And now the grand finale, let's take a squint at the Pixel 7's camera tech headed up by a 50 megapixel Octa PD quad bear shooter with optical image stabilisation. It's the same ruddy camera we found on the Pixel 6 from last year, same sensor size, same aperture level, everything. But there have been some tweaks to the camera software and features and to be fair the Pixel 6 sported one of the best cameras of last year

My family loves Google Pixel phones. Amazing cameras and the batteries last what feels like forever. 

So I'm looking for a new phone. My phone does function, but its battery is dying faster and faster, and I really want something with a better camera than what I have currently. Problem is, not only do I know very, very little about which smartphones are best for their value atm, but I also have no idea where to look. Yeah I could go to my local AT&amp;T and look at their pre-owned selection, but I get the feeling I'd be ripped off there when I could do better for cheaper somewhere else.   


So those with the know, where should I go? And do y'all have any personal recommendations? The only thing I'm sworn off of is Apple products, but I don't really care otherwise if I've got an android, a google phone, etc etc.

Granted, it is not the fastest in-screen sensor we've ever tested, but it is certainly a leg up from the Pixel 6's fingerprint sensor, which was plagued by reliability issues and sluggish response times

 Coupled with a flat-edged screen, the Pixel 7 feels great in the hand and is arguably easier to hold than the curved-edge Pixel 7 Pro. Looking at the front of the device, the Pixel 7 retains a similar 1080p panel to its predecessor, despite the Pixel 7 measuring 0.1 inches smaller. The display also features a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, same as last year, which isn't as buttery smooth as the Pixel 7 Pro's 120Hz panel, but it is still enough to provide a smooth viewing experience when scrolling through the interface

 However, it's not perfect. The Pixel 7 is not the fastest phone out there, even with 2nd gen silicon, meaning that it won't be the optimal choice for hardcore mobile gamers. The Pixel 7's charging speed is slower than the competition, which may irk some users, and I'm honestly not sold on the whole cinematic video feature. But none of these gripes are really enough to outweigh the positives that the Pixel 7 brings to the table

 Now, with the slightly improved processing performance, coupled with the slightly smaller phone factor of the Pixel 7, it is easy to assume that all of this will come at the cost of the phone's battery life. Fortunately, that is not the case. Even with a slightly smaller battery compared to last year, the Pixel 7 is able to make it through a day of heavy gaming, web browsing, watching videos, with 15% to spare by bedtime. The Pixel 7 ships with Android 13 and Google's Pixel UI, which I argue is among the best Android skins out there, and is as close to stock Android as you're going to get

The Google Pixel 7 is UNDERRATED! (Review)

I must confess I still carry a flip phone. It's rugged, small, and the battery lasts for days. But I guess it's time to move into the 21st century. Just wanted some input from the community on a frugal approach to a new phone. Used phones? Off brands? Or just stick with the big names?

 In comparison, the Pro model supports a curved display, just gently slopes around those edges for even skinnier bezels. Now, the regular Pixel 7 comes in a choice of three colours. You've got obsidian, snow and lemongrass, which roughly translated means black, white and watered down cat urine. If you want the Pro version instead, you can once again opt for white or black, while that lemongrass finish is swapped out for a moodier hazel effort

 Google's updated design for the Pixel 7 series just looks absolutely fantastic, definitely more refined than the previous generation. This looks proper lush, but here on the regular Pixel 7 you also get a flat display which might sway quite a lot of people onto the more regular model. In comparison, the Pro model supports a curved display, just gently slopes around those edges for even skinnier bezels. Now, the regular Pixel 7 comes in a choice of three colours

 And the results aren't bad at all, though I still prefer to just take high-res images on phones with massive camera sensors and then simply crop in as you don't have any stress from shadows or other issues. And one of the other new highlights of taking photos on these Pixel phones is the photo de-blur feature as well, which to be honest, I really didn't have to use very often at all because it's very rare to get a blurry shot on these two. And I got to admit, I'm still not convinced. It can help a little bit with blur, but it's not quite the miracle tool that someone making it out to be

 In low light, it's once again, sometimes a bit crap, vomiting out blurry unsavory pics, especially if you're not entirely still. Definitely best used when conditions are favorable. And that right there is my full final Frank review of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro after using them for just over a month. And I got to say, I'm kind of torn because I love the more compact, handfeely awesomeness of the Pixel 7, but the Pixel 7 Pro has that bloody awesome telephoto shooter, which I just adore so much
