I've used Technics SL-1200 mkII for in-home use, and I recently purchased a very lightly used Pioneer PLX-1000 w/Ortofon Concorde mkII MIX cartridge and a Fluance PA10 phono pre-amp (I don't use this phono pre-amp). Got the whole setup, in original factory packaging, for $350. It is Da Bomb!.

I auditioned this preamp along with an Emotiva Xps-1 and the Ifi Zen Air model. This one has no punch to it. Compared to the other 2 it makes the music sound lifeless. Hi's are veiled, midrange is ok and bass is not punchy. Please audition other preamps side by side like I did. I preferred the Emoti...

Pass on the Project with the logo on top. Pass on Fluance PA10 since the Art DJ Pre II is supposedly just as good for lower cost or you can get a better iFi Zen Air Phono or U-Turn Pluto 2 or Emotiva XPS-1 for the same cost as the Fluance.

Pass on the Fluance PA10 that may not be any better than the lower cost ART DJ Pre II. If you want to spend $99 then get the new [iFi Zen AIR that may be almost or just as good as the Mani.

I bought the PA10 with an RT85 turntable and the sound was dull and muddled. So much so that I thought there was something wrong with my Pioneer Elite SC55 receiver or Dali Oberon 5 speakers. I replaced this with a Rega Fono which admittedly is more expensive, but the sound quality is night and day....

Or if you plan on a speaker and amp upgrade, [Hagerman $199, internet direct value. Pass on the Fluance PA10 that may not be any better than the $65 Art DJ Pre II.
