Alright guys, this is my review of my 2018 Fender Mexican Standard Jazz Bass.

If you could only use ONE bass for the rest of your life what would you pick and why?

I was gonna say a fender P bass because I’ve been playing one for the past 10 years and does everything I want it to. I’m not an amazing bass player but it works for me. A fender jazz bass is option 2 for me.

I spent 20 years gigging as the bass player in an acoustic trio, and usually played my fender jazz bass.

They can ALL sound good. You just need to practice them and adapt/adjust parts as a band.

What gear did you stupidly part with/ turn down?

2011 Fender American Standard Jazz bass. Let it go for what I gave for it.

Craftsmanship is mediocre at best.

The back hinge on the right side was lose. The rivets were not installed very well at all. There was at least 1/16" play under the head of the rivets and this keeps the case from closing properly. So on a brand new case, I have to get out the pop rivet gun and fix something that hasn't even been use...

Fender Jazz bass vs Sterling Stingray

You probably won't get much of an upgrade going for a Fender jazz bass. Sterling at least gives you something you dont have. Definitely try to play before buying. Youll know what you want when you find it. Dont upgrade for no real reason
