 Let's move this tone knob a little bit up and see what we can get. I'm gonna play a little bit I'm gonna dig in a little bit more I get a little more of like a rock sound here so I'm still still have the P at 100% and I'm about 50% here with the tone knob and you'll hear a little bit more of the grit that the bass can can kind of pull out. Right so that's sort of you know a grittier bit of a groove all right I can slap that and you'll kind of hear a little bit still it's kind of has a nice chunk to the sound alright and then let's go with the tone all the way up okay. So like I said I think the P is probably the closest to the original Fender tone that they got with this bass

 Lake Classic blue, charcoal, some of the really nice they have that three color sunburst also the classic Fender look. So we'll play a little bit here this you'll get a little bit more of like that old Motown kind of sound with this sort of an it's sort of an underwater kind of sound with the tone rolled all the way off and the P pickup all the way up. I really like the P pickup on this bass I think it's probably the shining shining part about this bass the best part so here we go. Alright pretty cool right? Bonus points if you know what bassline that is I'll let you know later in the video

 Alright Precision the Jazz and now they have this one called the Affinity and this is a PJ so this as you can see has a P pickup here and a J pickup back on the bridge. Okay the knobs get these silver knobs. We have the P volume, J volume and tone knob. Okay right now I'm going to start with the P volume all the way up, the tone all the way off, J volume all the way off

 I really like the P pickup on this bass I think it's probably the shining shining part about this bass the best part so here we go. Alright pretty cool right? Fender Squier Affinity Precision Bass Demo and Review

I've only played 4 string jazz and p style basses and they worked great as I used them in mostly studio sessions and a couple of easy gigs. I'm starting in a live for hire situation and I'd like something a bit more compact, easy on the back and easier to handle on a night by night basis. As much as I have tried coming to an opinion based on youtube videos, I can't wrap my head around the feel of a shorter scale length.
Unfortunately I can't put my hands on one to try before the gigs start and I don't mind spending money on something I won't use as a main, but I don't want it to gather dust on a stand.
If it matters, the gig I would be using it for is a pop 8 piece and involves me using a fair bit of compression, octavers and synth mods. My strings of choice are light roto swings, i prefer medium light string tension and medium to low action. I prefer 4 string models and my budget would be around 1000-1500 euros if you have any recommendations. Any design works as I'm the bass dude and I'll be hanging in the back.

Thoughts on short scale basses?

 I've been playing for almost forty years and also build basses. I like all kinds of basses and try to be objective. What i like about this bass: 1. Its really light and comfortable

 3. The tone and volume pots work well. On some lower end basses the tone is almost like an on-off switch but this one has a smooth taper. 4

 Doesn't affect playability since it is on the topside but would rejected on a higher end squier. What could be better: 1. Out of the box the bass needed a full setup. The truss rod needed adjusting (I swear it was finger tightened)

Solid entry level bass

Most of the Fender PJ basses have the J pickup in the 60’s position since the 70’s position is far less popular on J basses.

I already love the sound of my PJ, but when I try to use the bridge pup only, it ends up sounding too trebly. I’m looking for the Jaco tone, which doesn’t really need the neck pup. Thanks in advance.

Looking for a PJ bass with the single coil in the ‘60s configuration.

 But the bass guitar was decently packaged and arrived in good shape. 👍  The only two issues I have with it over all is it's not the Olympic White I ordered and the one of the of the pick guard screw is missing. For my needs, nether of these are deal breaker. I do feel that Amazon staff should have confirmed that what they were shipping 100% correct, even on pre returned items

 The precision pickups are the two right there and the jazz pickup is right below it. There is a volume control on the right there for each pickup and a master tone control lets you dial in your own tone. It features a fast-playing maple neck with 20 medium jumbo frets and an Indian laurel fingerboard and they say it has a top load bridge for classic Fender playability and tone. So let's check it out

 Same thing tone halfway and tone all the way up. And we'll put the precision all the way up the jazz all the way up and the tone all the way up. Now I'll put it bass mid-range and treble around two. Precision is all the way up jazz is off and tone is about halfway

 Okay it's product review time. Most of you have seen me playing my Ibanez SR-300 in a lot of my videos and I decided it's time to mix it up a bit and I wanted to get a Fender Precision sound in the mix on occasion but I wasn't sure whether I wanted to spend the money on a you know regular Fender Precision or the Made Mexico $700 version or the Squier which is part of the Fender family Affinity Series which is what this is. This is a Squier Affinity Precision PJ bass. So this has a standard split coil precision bass pickup and a single coil jazz bass pickup to give you versatile sound

 The volumes turned up to I guess four gains up to four. Yeah let's just see we got the precision pickup all the way up the jazz all the way off and the tone all the way off and we'll put the tone about halfway put the tone all the way up. Precision is still all the way up and the jazz is off. All right now we'll put the precision off the jazz all the way up and the tone off

I really want to know whether I should get a P or J for that krist noveselic/ flea tone (I know they both used a J or something similar, but I wonder if I could get that low raspy tone from a Precision?). Thanks!

For a growly, gravely, rumbling tone for punk rock/metal, should I get a P bass with roundwounds and low action, or a Jazz bass?

If you actually buy this, get a good amp and replace the pickups if you want it to sound good. Take it to a guitar store and have them set it up. I think if you buy it from fender -NOT amazon, you can take it to a fender technician and they will set it up for free, you just need the online receipt. If you do buy it from amazon for whatever reason, take it to a guitar shop and have them set it up anyway

Bottom line, its only good if you're going to mod it. otherwise buy smth else

Hi! I feel like this is the right place to be asking about this since looking online has been rather confusing.

For some background: I'm a 17 y/o girl with very small hands who's been playing for 7 years, 5 of which I've been playing a fender jazz bass. I love the who and pretty much any song with a fast, melodic bass line and I'm pretty alright at playing these parts but I do have some trouble after I get past the 9th fret due to it being quite chunky. I actually have to have my thumb by the bottom edge of the fretboard to be able to reach the highest frets on the low E.

A few months back I decided I need a new bass because of the neck issue... unfortunately I don't like the appearance of most brands that cater to smaller hands, they're just not my style as I prefer the classic, smooth fender style over a more modern and heavier rock inspired design. Because of this I've decided to customise my own bass! 

The point I'm getting to is: what is the smallest, thinnest neck I can possibly get? What dimensions/measurements/specifications should I be looking for and where could I get a neck?

Any help would be very much appreciated!!!
