We own 4 Dyson V8 + 2 Dyson AM09 + 2 Dyson AM07. Owned these products for 2+ years and no issues, no warranty exchanges. We became interested in getting an air purifier + heater for another room and purchased a Dyson HP09 at Best Buy - the clicking noise it made woke us up at night - product returned. We then decided to try the older version Dyson HP04 (available direct from Dyson) - went through 3 of them - all returned.

But I have a similar/older one from 3 years ago (still an AM09, not sure if it’s been tweaked since then). **Absolutely can’t recommend**. This is my second one in three years, the first stopped heating and gave an H2 error code. Dyson support gave an utterly ridiculous explanation saying “it wasn’t receiving proper voltage”..... yeah right.

I checked your machine, and it’s an AM09. Maybe there’s dust in the fan, in that case I would recommend vacuuming the base with a soft brush where the air gets sucked in. That sometimes can cause a smell. If it still doesn’t work, there’s only Dyson that can help you.
