Looking at buying a new dell xps 17 as they came out on the store yesterday in the us before today in Australia I had looked at the price and had assumed they would be similar.

My Dell G7 7790 is getting its motherboard repaired for the second time, so has anyone else had a similar issue?

 The heavy weight and loud fans compare unfavorably to the lighter and generally quieter Lenovo Legion Y740 which comes equipped with the same CPU and GPU options as our Dell. Heavy gaming laptops are understandable, but they should be quieter to make up for the weight and the G7 17 unfortunately has the worst of both worlds.

Verdict

Laptop was not the one in pictures

17" Dell G7 with i7-10750H, RTX 2070S, 32GB RAM.  I don't want to replace the thermal paste yet.
