 Good afternoon, it's Ben at Pro Bike and Run in Monroeville.

 Today we're introducing the freshly launched Synapse from Cannondale, one of our premier

 in this format, a trim level of 3, an L-bike.

 And what that all means is that the Synapse is a connection bike or the comfort bike between

 the racing bikes of Cannondale and the gravel bikes.

 So this is a bike that would be designed for long-haul road riding or for up and down hills.

 Comfort is one of the key features of this, maybe best all-around bike from Cannondale.

 This one is purple haze, it is a trim level 3, a $3,300 price level, and it is an L-bike.

 Part of the Smart Sense configuration just announced by Cannondale, the first time integrated

 So one could have radar, lights, and electronic shifting.

 This bike has front lights and rear lights, behaving almost like a car so that you can

 see and be seen, both from the rear and from the front.

 Those are controlled by the app downloaded from the Cannondale website.

 You have a sensor on this bike that allows you to connect to Cannondale as well via the

 Presta, you'll shift manually on Shimano 105, the largest drivetrain maker in the world,

 I love the shape of this, really comfy on long rides, give me all the comfort I need when doing three or four-hour rides. I like the fact that you have a two-piece aero handlebar and stem. I like the shape of the tops and drops, and the bar tape is really comfy as well, especially riding my gloves when it's warm enough, which it is at the moment. Crazy climate change to thank for that

 Right, time to share my first ride impressions and observations on the brand new 2022 Cannondale

 Synapse. It launched just over two weeks ago and their reaction to the bike has been quite

 interesting, very divided around the key technology rollout on this bike, the smart sense,

 lights and radar baked into the frame in a way we haven't seen before. I've been riding the bike

 loads for the last two weeks during daytime and night to see where it actually works and to find

 out if it's a hit or a miss. Before all of that, let's talk about how the bike rides,

 so performance, handling, and comfort. Is it as good as the old bike or better and how does it

 compare to other rivals in a very popular endurance road bike category? Loads to cover,

 let's not dilly dally, let's dive in. I'm going to start by praising the old bike

 because if you don't know, I really like the old Synapse, one of my favorite endurance bikes.

 It's fast and comfy and right at home in a road race, yes, really. A 300-kilometer Audax,

 some Belgian Pave, it could do it all. Wide tires, disc brakes, relaxed geometry,

 which suits an aging chap like me. This new bike has some big shoes to fill and has it filled them?
