Not something that you want to have if you only need to read PDFs. If you can easily afford a kindle oasis (around 230euros in EU and I can imagine similar prices in US), then you should instead buy a Boyue P78 that is sells more-or-less for the same price. Android based ebook reader @ 8" that has a decent native reader and more importantly can use the google store apps for reading (including native koreader). That is a far better solution than your KoboVSkindle for PDFs.

Is the pocketbook inkpad 3 7.8" good for manga?

Images are very sharp, the contrast is quite good and text is legible. That said, I buy manga and store it on my device (hence the large sd card). If you are planning to view manga through the web browser or stream it using some app, I would suggest an Android-based e-reader like the Meebook P78 Pro.

Looking for a backlit E-Ink based e reader that has a micro sd card slot and can play cbz's

Its newest line of products will be rebranded to MeeBook and I think most of them use android so you can essentially install apks or install from the google play store. I’m guessing you’ll be reading manga so my recommendation is to get a 7.8” or more screen size because reading manga on anything smaller than that is not really enjoyable. Unfortunately that comes with a cost since most devices starting at that screens size are usually $200+. I just got the MeeBook P78 Pro just a few hours ago and aside from the clunky UI it’s pretty decent.
