I’ve had their everyday backpack 20L and 30L, their travel backpack, the 5L and 10L sling bags and every single one of them were woefully under built in the strap department. They are okay if empty in the store but as soon as they have a load, they are a huge pain. As cool as their bags are, I wouldn’t ever consider them anymore.

We know it. We’ve discussed it.

But why?

I’ve got the 45l + 18l and in both cases it feels like the straps were designed for 50% capacity.

The straps on the 45l in particular are woeful when it’s fully loaded - like carrying a suitcase with a couple of belts.

It feels like one area of Peak Design bags where they go for style over substance.

Why are Peak Design straps so bad?

There are also some concerns here about the slim water bottle pocket, but I saw a review specifically stating that this worked well for somebody with a similar frame to mine.

Between the weird layouts of the side pockets on the 20l zip that (in my opinion) fold out the wrong way, and the rear pouch that is just too hard to access once the main bag is full, I’m happy to see peak design have just popped zipper pockets inside the main case of the 30l for organising stuff you don’t need in transit and a much easier to access pocket at the front. -	Better through hiking comparability.

So how do we feel about the 30l travel backpack?

 However, the size of this bag really works better for daily use than the air travel pack. I was so impressed with just how small the bag manages to look without sacrificing carrying capacity, and if you prefer, a little bit less of a techie look and Moorman outdoorsy feel this is gon na, be a great alternative to the travel pack to the travel pack. To is also a little bit more expensive coming in at 230 dollars without the waist strap. So once you add, the waist strap that bag really starts to get higher into the price range, whereas this manages to stay under $ 200, making it a really compelling alternative and then the last bag that I'll throw out

Great travel backpack

 Plus, the Osprey is unable to stand upright on its own (due to not having a flat bottom) and the Tortuga can. Thus, making it easy to put the bag down on the floor when not carrying it.  -comfortable carry-on bag that is designed as a minimal backpack. Can be incognito from budget airlines and can blend into a crowd of people in a city without looking like a tourist

 Though the Osprey had a better harness/waist strap system, but for the size of bag, the Tortuga's removable waist straps works just fine. Most times I don't even use the waist straps unless I know I will be walking for over 20+ minutes. I was torn between this and the Osprey Farpoint 40L. After trying both of them out, the Tortuga won. Though the Osprey had a better harness/waist strap system, but for the size of bag, the Tortuga's removable waist straps works just fine. Most times I don't even use the waist straps unless I know I will be walking for over 20+ minutes

Best Travel Backpack

 Bag was comfortable and secure, travelled well around the city and doesn’t seem as big as it is. Highly recommend for travelers who want a lot of room but don’t want to check a bag. If you don’t have inserts of your own you might want to buy them to help maintain shape structure but overall highly recommended.

I took the 45L bag from the US to Rio and back as a carry-on bag. No issues from the airlines and I had the bag full to max weight with equipment and clothing. Bag was comfortable and secure, travelled well around the city and doesn’t seem as big as it is. Highly recommend for travelers who want a lot of room but don’t want to check a bag
