This was the first time I've been able to audition so many pedals, and I was pretty surprised at how different the "tape delay" types were. I think I tried out 5-6 of them, and ended up with the Strymon El Capistan. It had the right feel for the ramp up when you have infinite repeats and then adjust the speed, where others were either too slow on the uptake, or just felt a little.

 So my final thoughts about this pedal is that it's very versatile, it offers great set of configuration that you can tweak very easily and it's very sturdy, not really too compact, not too big and it's amazing, it really produces clear sounds and great delay settings and also the reverb setting that it's a plus on the delay pedal, right? Strymon El Capistan - Tape Delay Guitar Pedal  | Review & Demo Sounds

I had a Carbon Copy Deluxe for 9 months but found it uninspiring so I did some research online via YT videos and buyer reviews so I decided to try the El Cap. I purchased through Amazon because I had some gift certificates so..

.. Not only did the pedal arrive earlier than expected, (it shipped directly from Vintage King) but it sounds so good that I have not stopped using it since it arrived.  I'm practicing guitar more because this pedal makes the process more enjoyable and yes, it makes my playing sound better

 The El Cap will be used extensively on many of my tracks in the years to come.  I also own a Strymon Flint which I cannot say enough about. Strymon pedals are more $$$ but consider that most of their pedals have 2 effects, more features, and sound incredible. Seriously, the Flint Reverb/Tremolo combo are top notch and I have used that pedal on many other tracks besides guitars so my point is, these Strymon pedals are incredible on guitar rigs but also work excellent for studio use

 That Pedal Show have done a really great in-depth review of this pedal against some other pedals that are similar to it. Anderton's TV have obviously done it, Pete and the Captain and Strymon themselves have done plenty of videos on all the cool features packed into Volante and I was like, how am I going to approach this? And I think most of you guys that follow me will know that I'm a huge fan of just getting to know a pedal on the spot in the video and just learning how to use it and playing and doing some cool stuff. Well with this I do have to know a little bit before showing you but also I thought rather than go through every tiny little nook and cranny of how it works and all the history and stuff like that, I would just show you how the pedal works generally, some of the cool secondary functions that it has and how you navigate it and then just play, just show you, just share with you that kind of like discovery of cool sounds that you can get from it. And also I want to get it on the floor because some of the, there's a looper in there and there's some extra functionality that you need to use your feet with which at the moment I've got it sat here next to me on my left so I can just go through it with you

Anyway, Strymon Volante, it's a magnetic tape machine based on, well there's a couple of different types of delay in there but one of the main ones is the magnetic drum echo which is the Binson Echo Rec which is a, I guess it's a really sought after tape machine and what it is is a magnetic drum and the tape goes around it and it can create really interesting delays. It was such an old piece of gear that that's basically back in the day how they would create delays and then it's got tape delay on there as well so you've got like what I'd suppose like an echo plex type of thing

 It's so intuitive. It's inspiring It's the secondary functions all the different sounds you can create incredible like just hats off I'm I might be biased because I'm a huge Strymon fan and I always use their stuff But like honestly that is one of the most impressive delay pedals I've ever come across and I cannot say enough good things about it You know as I'm sure you can imagine that's what it's like So I urge you if you're a tinkerer and you like get involved with cool sounds or you want that kind of dreamy delay Or you just want something inspiring to support what you do Absolutely get a Strymon Volante like absolutely I'm kind of lost for words because I just feel so good about this pedal and I'm so Inspired by it and I cannot wait to create some music with it You know, you'll know whenever I release some music next and if it's on there because you just be able to tell I'll probably put it all over the place Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this video.
