If you're a vlogger looking to make the jump from a smartphone to a dedicated camera but still want something portable, the Sony ZV-1 is an excellent option. This compact point-and-shoot is for vloggers, with a lightweight body that you can carry around for long periods with minimal fatigue. Its small handgrip and well-spaced controls make it comfortable to use even when holding it in a selfie position. There's even a detachable windscreen for its microphone to help cut down on wind noise when shooting outdoors.

This camera's built-in lens is optically stabilized. Combined with its electronic stabilization feature, the camera does an excellent job of smoothing out camera shake when recording handheld. Its autofocus system delivers exceptional tracking performance in both FHD and 4k recording. It even has dedicated tracking modes for either human or animal subjects. In 'Product Showcase' mode, the camera is capable of swapping focus from faces to objects held up within the frame, and a dedicated 'Background Defocus' function instantly adjusts lens aperture from f/5.6 to f/1.8 or vice versa, allowing for quick swaps between a deep or shallow depth of field.

Unfortunately, like most compact cameras, it can overheat during long recording sessions. Like the Sony RX100 VII, it uses an Np-BX1 battery, which doesn't supply a very long runtime. It also has a fully articulated screen, allowing you to flip the screen around to face you without obstructing the mic or any attached cables.

The camera is fairly comfortable to use, and its lightweight, compact design makes it easy to shoot in busier areas without drawing attention. It has a fantastic phase-detect autofocus system that supports eye detection and tracking. Video quality is amazing when shooting in more controlled lighting conditions in 4k resolution. Though low-light and FHD video quality are inferior, FHD still looks decent in well-lit environments. The camera also has an incredibly effective autofocus system that easily tracks moving subjects and keeps them in focus. It supports both face and eye tracking, and it even has vlog-specific settings like a 'Product Showcase' feature for product vloggers that's supposed to quickly switch focus to objects held up in the frame.

It also has an electronic stabilization feature that does a great job of stabilizing handheld 4k video, though enabling it does incur a slight 1.15x crop. Sony's autofocus system is also a little more consistent and accurate overall than the Fujifilm AF. That said, its small sensor means worse overall video quality, especially in low-light situations, although 4k video still looks great overall and is more than suitable for vlogging. Unfortunately, though, the camera's battery life is very limited, and there's a 5-minute recording time limit in 4k to prevent overheating, so it's mostly just suitable for shorter videos.

Get the Fujifilm if you want a more advanced vlogging camera with better internal recording specs and video quality. If portability is your top priority, the Sony is a solid alternative with an excellent autofocus system.

 It is a huge misstep, but this cameras, touchscreen, is only for focusing. But I find it's a great compromise. If you want decent color a little more dynamic range without having to switch to s log 2 & 3, which, with the 8 bit codec in this, I do find, can give you some real issues with banding waxy skin tones. The real standout for me is that Sony's combining a very bright lens with the extremely good real-time autofocus

 Those are lots like about the design of this camera. It is very lightweight. It'S a very clean, simple, looking body, the grip, although very basic, actually does a great job, whether I'm holding the camera away from me or towards me. I don't feel like I'm gon na drop it nice big buttons that are easy to find

WHY? 4) Imaging Edge, Sony's software for viewing and transfering files doesn't work on Macbook Pro because it doesn't recognize that I'm in PC Remote Function mode as it continuously tells me to switch to that mode.  Why is this so terrible? How did ya'll screw us on every conceivable way of transferring files from this camera?  I'm so torn on whether to keep this camera despite all those terrible heinous design choices the company made
