Consider a Sire Marcus Miller bass. Amazing value and playability. I’ve been ignoring my Dingwall a lot since picking up a V5 on a whim.

Was looking for something more trebly and melodic than my Precision. Went to the store, tried some basses. Didn't know much about the Marcus Miller Sire basses, but fell in love immediately. The guy at the store even said "I could tell you liked that one", because I was jamming on it for quite some time haha

I ordered this new but noticed blemishes all over the front plate that indicated it had been used or perhaps refurbished. I wasn't concerned at the time as I figured I'm just a learner currently. Unfortunately, I have had a persistent issue with the strings severely rattling during my practice sessions. I did some research to affirm whether or not I was the one to blame and then took it to a professional; I had the action adjusted and did some practice with it in the shop and the professional said the problematic strings likely needed to be replaced

It has been a few months since my purchase due to my lack of knowledge in the workings of a bass beforehand, so I don't expect a refund but I feel a bit ripped off

Bought new, received used.

 Over time it began to sound super groggy and distorted . I tried different cables , amps . It was the bass guitar . Unfortunately I had to return it

 I was let down AGAIN. So back it went . Although it sounded great , could not get a functioning bass guitar atleast here in Amazon.

 Its very odd. A little darker and it would have been almost brown or a little lighter it would have been yellow. I sent mine back. Flesh tone was not what I wanted

In my hands you'll notice I have a bass with an absolutely iconic design and it's the design of the Music Man Stingray. And this bass is the Stirling by Music Man Sub-Ray 4, which is the subsidiary of Music Man, which is the equivalent of Squier to the USA Music Man range

 So it's worth checking out. In this video I'm going to run you through all the specs of the bass, talk about those. Then we're going to have a look at what the bass sounds like on its own, just run through the controls. And then after that I'm going to play some pick style, some finger style and some slap style, back to back along with some drums to give you an idea of the range of tones you can get from this bass and the versatility of it

 But in terms of the sounds, it's classic Music Man really. I don't think there's quite as much finesse in this two band EQ as the proper American ones. But I think the bass knob is really, really great. I love how much that adds

 But it's not a sound that I would go for with it on full. But then for the slap stuff it gives you that massive scoop. So it's really up to you guys. When it comes down to it I think it's a decent weight

 It's got a really solid sound and I think it will fit in a wide variety of situations. I think if you're looking for a bass in this price range it's something different to the Squires, the Epiphone and it's an absolutely classic design. Another design that's right up there with the Jazz Bass and the Precision. So in my opinion that's all you need to know about the Sterling by Music Man Sub-Ray 4 bass
