 Price-wise Dior is half the price. it's less than half the price of the XD and it's 20% cheaper than the SLX If you think about upgrading to XD XD are ok and select is fine because it's still quite cheap, but this one is cool. I Don't see any reason why I would upgrade from D Re upwards unless you're getting very good in mountain biking and you're racing, you will have light bike or you just have the budget by XDR why not by XD our guys it will be lighter. You won't appreciate all the systems you won't even know they exist

 So we have 10 speed cassette but you have all the systems in the shifter that SLX has so multiple shifting to a release it has it. It doesn't have the instant release and multiple release which only XD and xD I have not even SLX. Deore M6000 - Why Is It The Most Unappreciated MTB Groupset From Shimano...

I think shimano deore is the better value. I just upgraded to gx with a nx cassette but if I was starting fresh, 90% sure I would go shimano. You're going to need a new hub or rear wheel if you want a deore 12 speed cassette though. You can use a Sunrace cassette but you lose the hyperglide plus shifting

Shimano deore VS sram SX/NX groupsets

I'd go for the Shimano Deore drivetrain over SRAM SX Eagle based on reliability. Their better 11-50t derailleurs are great as are their cheaper 11-42t derailleurs but that spec in particular (their cheapest 11-50t) seems to have a lot of problems. You can swap on a GX derailleur though.

Advice on First Bike - Cross Country, Budget Cap is $1400

I would normally go with SLX or XT, depending on price difference at the time, but only the Deore states compatibility with 11-42. This has sorted out the problems I had with the XT mech after conversion from 2x to 1x and increasing from 11-36 to 11-42 cassette.

I expect I’ll get a year out of it without issues - then will consider 11 speed upgrades...

 Like most modern bikes, the battery is usually housed within the seat post. In my experience, I average about 2 000 miles or about 3 000 kilometers per charge. Obviously, that's going to depend on how much use you have with the front derailleur, because that does utilize more energy to perform that shift. Where the shifting is most improved is with the shifting experience itself

 Incidentally, the pivot is higher on Shimano Grxdi2, so that means less effort to affect the brake action from the hoods particularly. and here if it's got so much more power, even one finger breaking from any position. In fact, I believe these shifters set the benchmark for comfort among any shifter available on the market today, among every brand, and to affect the shift by default that goes down the cassette. This button goes up the cassette and you can also map these buttons on the top of the hoods either side to perform functions such as shifting or if you have a D Fly module

 From these levers, the hoods are so comfortable riding on top and as you can see, there's a very pronounced hook, so it's not like you're going to lose your hand. If you're jarred, then lose the grip on the bar. There is plenty of grip on top of the hood, so I never use gloves unless it's very cold, so that's a good thing for me. and you can easily reach the brake levers from this position and also from the drops

The fact that it won't shift unless you're pedaling quickly is bad enough... but on the *vast* majority of bikes which are not meticulously maintained, shifting is also a clunky, unreliable, inconsistent nightmare! On cars we have manual transmissions that go in the chosen gear easily, every time. We have automatic CVT transmissions that maintain a totally optimized ratio smoothly. Why aren't bike transmissions more advanced?

Thoughts on this? Any new advancements to be excited about?
