I have Shimano GRX wheels on one of my bikes. If you can get them, they’re not expensive (~$450 / set), reasonably light, and I’ve had zero problems with them.

I ride a gravel GRX 810 1x set-up. Debated on getting a 2x due to all the reasons mentioned here, but getting rid of that front derailleur on a 1x is awesome. One less thing to deal with.

It was my first real bike for a more serious use, so I was obviously very satisfied with the Performance. It was a Cube Nuroad Race FE, as the rear derailleur it had the GRX 810.

If it's your only bike I think having 2x front gearing is worth it as I assume you'll be doing a fair amount of road riding. For reference I have a 2019 topstone 105 which is essentially the same as this bike as I swapped in a GRX 810 rear derailleur. I also added a stans crest rims with I9 torch hubs and it really livened the ride up.
