These were the best headphones within my price range that provided the right balance of clarity and bass. The other option was the Audeze LCD-MX4, which to me had all the benefits of the HD 820's clarity, but with marginally better soundstage and bass response and impact.

So I can't give a great review since I am lacking in knowledge regarding sound equipment so my opinion would be amateurish at best. However, it is hard to beat the price for a good headphone like this.

The HD700's have a tighter and more comfortable fit but the 800S is pretty good, much better than my LCD X. Removing the already connected 1/4 cable from the headphones to put the 4.4 balanced cable was scary af as you just pull hard to get them off and it feels like you can break it doing that. The soundstage and resolution on these are a big step up from the HD700

Comfort: As light as can be, these aren't that cheap plastic, say like the Drop x Sennheiser HD58x/6xx, These are that firm thick plastic that doesn't make noises as you move it around. They feel premium in the hand. Quality: Externally I believe these are built super well. Internally

Nevertheless, I'm still happy with the design. They are comfortable on my large head, and the cord is just the right length and looseness for me.

The ear pads are large, however may interfere if you wear glasses. Remember, this is a headphone for the years to come. People spend $1,500+ on computers that get outdated after a while with a huge price depreciation. 5+ yrs from now these cans will still be worth $1,000+ used as the resale value is incredibly high

I had a pair of orig V6s back in the day and they eventually broke at the slider mount for the earpiece when I sat on them. These are prolly weak in the same way. Should otherwise be durable and long lived.
