The standard recommendations if you’re getting a lot of flats would be Schwalbe Marathons, Conti Gatorskins, Specialized Armadillos. None of these are great feeling tires — you really trade off tackiness and road feel for puncture protection.

What are some good tires for a 700 x 35c Ebike that will last long and is very durable? I don’t want to keep getting flats but also want a decent rolling resistance

Tires for Ebike

  Yes, these tires are on the heavy side, which is the price you pay for the durability. I went from a 32C down to a 28C and the Schwalbes were still 11 ounces heavier per tire than the Bontragers. The Schwabes are definitely better on the trail, but the Bontragers still have a slight handling advantage on the road. I'm fine with the compromises

 While the Bontragers never gave me any trouble (with the exception of the bubble) or any flats, I wanted to try something different. I ride a mixture of roads and hard packed limestone trails. The Bontrager slicks always felt a little squirrely on the trails, so I was looking for something with a light tread pattern. I did some research and settled on the Schwalbe Marahon Plus, mostly due to its durability, and the good reviews

Great Tires for a Trek 7.3 FX

 Another tire of the same size was much more difficult and I had to use zip ties to get it done. As for a 700x25, it was nearly impossible. I hade to use several zip ties and another person to get it done. Conclusion: The mounting experience can be quite different from tire to tire even with the same size but especially between different sizes

The 700x28s I mounted were all on the same brand and style of rim. I have to conclude that there is a good deal of difference among the tires and this makes for a difficult mounting experience

 First thing I noticed with these tires was the weight, they sure are heavy compared the Kojak tire I just took off. The tire is not flexible at all and mounting at first was difficult but after taking a deep breath I was able to tame this beast and get it on. Once I knew how to mount it, the other one was easy to mount. I ride a cannondale bad boy for my commute, the bike feels a lot heavier with those tires now, and it was already heavy with the Kojak tires

I was running Schwable Kojak tires and the rear tire thread broke internally, it was kinda of weird no noticeable rip just a big bulge in the tire. So I decided to replace both since it's getting wet these days and slick tires aren't giving me the confidence riding in the wet. Nice tire but can be difficult to mount

Since I have only logged a couple of hours on the bicycle so far with the Marathon Plus tires mounted, I cannot attest at this point on their flat prevention capabilities. However, all the documentation that I read has me convinced that it will take quite a bit to puncture these tires. My review is based on the feel of the tires when riding. I heard some say that these tires had too much rolling resistance and, then again, some reviewers said that they rolled well

For Unbound type gravel, I prefer either the Pathfinder pro 38 mm or Panaracer GravelKing SS+. The SS+ tires are super fast regardless of surface type and have plenty of grip for everything except sand. I have done training on Specialized Sawtooth and Specialized Roubaix 32 mm tires on this type of terrain and these tires are less than idea.

I’ve been racing cyclocross for a bit and typically run 33mm for racing.  Last spring (off season), I ran 45mm tires for a bit because it seemed to be the trend in the gravel community.

The 45’s felt slow, the bike wasn’t as nimble around tight corners, and it was harder to lean the bike to keep speed around other corners.  Not to mention the toe overlap was brutal. 

A friend was then selling some 650b wheels, I had never run 650b and decided to give them a try to cure the toe overlap. I bought WTB Sendero 47mm tires and couldn’t love them. The smaller diameter lowered my bottom bracket height and hopping logs, curbs, and rocks would cut it too close to scraping the bottom of my frame.  A couple times, my crank brushed the log I was hopping (luckily it didn’t bend and scrape my frame).

Needless to say, I ended up going back to my 33mm CX tires. I’m riding pretty much all terrain with the 33’s at this point. Everything from road rides with groups of friends to gravel/fire roads in rest days, and single track/mountain bike trails with my mountain bike friends.  33’s have also been fine for mud and sand in my CX races and skills training.

With this said, the trend in gravel riding seems to be wider and wider. So many posts here have 47mm and 50mm tires, which makes me feel like I have to be wrong about this. What am I missing here?
