I have Q-Acoustics 3020i's that are warm and make everything sound warm, they scale well but can be a bit too warm at low volume. They make everything fun to listen to, but I feel they need to be played at considerable volume in order to balance out the the sound.

I'm glad Kanto is making passive stuff now. You know how I feel about active speakers, so I rarely was recommending them. For $159 though, I bet these are great for the price.

I recently got the passives and also Neumi BS5. Ended up returning the Neumi. Driven by Yamaha R-S202BL. 

These speakers give me the joy of discovering the songs anew. Neumi were good too but not great

Kanto YU Passive 5.25 - The TL/DR Review

 I can’t afford expensive speakers; this pressed my budget as it is, but I can’t imagine being any happier than with these. Lovely design, modern lines and simplicity. Love.

These little speakers are powerful and make my small receiver sound like a much more expensive stereo system. I don't even have a subwoofer, and they still deliver big sound as well as clarity to highs, lows, as well as midrange tones. I can’t afford expensive speakers; this pressed my budget as it is, but I can’t imagine being any happier than with these. Lovely design, modern lines and simplicity

 Now, this could be all in my head. I readily admit that, but I wouldn't be surprised if Sony changed the voicing just a little bit because you have to bear in mind these speakers are sold in a mass-market retail environment. Here in North America, that means Best Buy and their competitors are Polk Audio and Klipsch and Polk Audio. And Klipsch has a very different sound

 For somebody who's on a budget, yet you still want sound that is way better than any sound bar or bluetooth speaker. You're somebody who is limited on placement options. Maybe you have to put this small speaker next to a wall boundary, which guess what is what most people do with a speaker like this? And maybe you live in a condo in a town home? Or maybe you just have family members you don't want to disturb so you can't always blast your music, but you still want it to sound good, even at low volumes. This speaker checks off all of those boxes, which is why it's so easy to recommend to people

 and then you have Polk with that meaty sounding mid-range strong bass and bright treble. In that environment, Polk Audio Clips tends to sound a lot more impressive. and then when you switch to the Sony's that are sitting next to them the Sony's number one, they don't exactly look all too great to the eyes, I guess looks around the eyes of the beholder. But still

 I've heard a lot of budget speakers in between then and now, so I decided it would be cool to revisit the Sony's and to talk about whether or not I still feel the same way about their value proposition. So let's go ahead and talk about that. [Music] Oh God. I need a haircut

After the Hype! Revisiting the SONY CORE SSCS5 Bookshelf Speakers!

 Turned each speaker horizontally and stacked four high per side, tweeter above tweeter, woofer above woofer in a sort of array, made the connections and switched on the Levinson No. 585 integrated amp - as most who buy these speakers probably own - and have been listening to them for two days now.  I have not listened to a single pair, just this stack of eight speakers. They can't match the single-pair Bryston Mini-T, but at $4k/pair for the Bryston, I'd have been disappointed if they did

 Amazon and Sony made it cheap to play with so I pulled the trigger.  When they arrived, I stacked them atop my dual SVS subwoofers after moving my Bryston speakers to another room for a few days while I play with these Sony speakers. My wife is no audiophile but her comment was, "These don't sound as good as the Mini-T - the don't have any bass!" Well, they don't extend very deep, nor is the upper bass as clean as that to which we are accustomed. Still, four are fairly impressive to those less spoiled by superior speakers

73 bucks..GREAT Sale! Had to get that Cs9 subwoofer too.  The trio arrived and I pushed it with the Sony CMT

 This is a great sounding system of sound for my collection to be played through and enjoyed with enough power and over all everything I need for where I'm at in life now...

These or the Dayton MK402X are probably the best straight music speakers at this price point. Sub $150 speakers but sometimes sell for sub $100. Sony SSCS5 - List for $150ish, but [often are sold at sub $80](https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B00O8YLMVA)

 I run my bass thru subs but got to say I'm very impressed with these speakers when have real power put to them. I wouldn't recommend to use these speakers with the typical AVR that doesn't push out at least at least hundred to 150 watts minimum unless your running full bandwidth. 8 ohm speakers sounds better unless you can drive these. Thats my opinion
