They do also come with a wireless remote for easy control from across the room.  Lenbrook also represents PSB speakers, Dolly speakers which I haven't tested yet, these speakers made me want to get the Dolly stuff to try out which is another Danish speaker company a rival of Dynaudio which I love so much and Bluesound and so I was really interested in NAD and Bluesound because they are the sort of the high end, Bluesound is like the high end version of alternative to Sonos because Sonos is not a high res company, they're a consumer focused company, I'm a professional grade consumer focused guy and so I was looking for higher quality audio that still had some high end, high end, high res audio capabilities and so NAD Bluesound and then the representative here in Florida, my now friend Mike Sugiecki suggested, he said maybe you should consider PSB as well for your lower end solution. I said no, I'm not really interested but I became intrigued and I did what I always do and I bought the whole catalog, so everything NAD makes, everything Bluesound makes, I hate the Bluesound speakers, I thought maybe that could be a nice little simple wireless type solution and then I got the PSBs and I want to prepare you, if you buy the black speakers and let's say you buy the AM3s, you're going to open this up and say man has lost his freaking mind, I was thinking the same thing, this is junk, so this is a vinyl raft, you can see the vinyl seam on the bottom, it has a rather kind of inexpensive magnetic type grill and it weighs, this is the amplifier speaker, so when you get the other it weighs nothing and you're going to be like, send these back immediately, so I bought I don't know how many thousands of 10 grand, because they have a lot of speakers, I bought every single one of them and I don't like all of them by the way, but I swallowed my pride and I said well I paid for these, I might as well set them up and listen to them and holy mother of God. This allows you to run HDMI, a single HDMI connection through HDMI audio return channel, so we have setup videos and all this stuff on the OG Shorts channel, so you can always go and check that stuff out, but 599 bucks in either color, 399 bucks, and that's today in October of 2021, I'm sure the prices of this thing, of everything in the world is going up, but as of today for 400 bucks, you want a really simple setup, you have an outlet you can plug into, you can run the speaker wire across behind your cabinets or something like that in your garage, your kitchen, your desk setup, I'm telling you, these things are freaking incredible, and for what they're going to compete against, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anything to touch these, and it's all the genius of Paul Barton, and you can go just Google search different reviews from different audio people, and you have to sift through the people that only deal with cheap stuff and look for the guys that are used to using high-end, listening to high-end stuff, I mean, they're going to talk about the quality of materials, not the fit and finish, but the quality of materials and the fact that you can palm, I can palm a five and a quarter inch speaker, there's not much to it, but that's part of the magic of this whole thing, it's a pretty magical experience for the money that you're spending, and you know me, I don't like talking about stuff that I don't freaking like, and I definitely don't like cheap stuff, and I certainly don't want to waste words on cheap stuff that I don't like, and I don't light up like this very often, but these freaking things are incredible, and they're going to be great for your garage, the simplicity of it, we'll get into more sophisticated systems if you want to do receivers and digital analog converters and things like that, we're going to have those systems as well, but if you want simple, inexpensive, great sound, skip the AM3s, this is just a price point thing, there's no reason why you would buy an AM3 over an AM5, buy the AM5s, I would for me, AM5s in white, you'll probably end up buying them for your iMac setup or your PC setup, that's where I think these really do best, then your upgrade path, get yourself a subwoofer, we'll have a separate subwoofer video, then get yourself a blue sound node, then you can upgrade your speakers in the future, you'll end up putting these somewhere else or give them to your kid or something like that. So that's the PSB story, I think we'll start to talk more about this PSB stuff as we learn more about it over time, but like I said, I don't get this excited very often, I don't have these in my garage, but if I was 23 or 30 and just bought my first house and I just got my first mortgage payment, I'm going to buy these and I'm going to smile ear to ear every time I go out in the garage and then I'm going to work toward getting a subwoofer to go with it and I'm going to have a great audio experience in the garage, the ferro fluid cooled aluminum tweeter, whatever they're doing there, whatever magic they're working to get rid of that tinny-ness of aluminum, it's just incredible

 My original intent was just to be able to sell fancy guns and wands and foam cannons and hoses and make some money there, that's the reason I was doing it and also it was to get people off our back that were asking all these questions and I discovered the 1700.  So if you already have an amplifier or preamplifier, then the PSB-P5 provides really good tone, really good high frequency extension, and very well balanced sound without breaking too much bank. But the AM5 is also very good value if you don't have all that, and if you are looking for a setup with the P5, but you're looking at amplifiers and so on, then I am really hard pressed to recommend something for $200 or $500 for that matter that would outperform what's already in the AM5 and what's been done with the max bass algorithm.  Not only is the bass strong, but it is very textured and it feels real and it feels natural. And it feels just enjoyable. As long as I have my, you know, purest hat off. But there are caveats to the speaker that I want to get across

 This is for someone who wants to get really good sound, have convenience, and all those features that I was talking about in this video. So in conclusion, I still recommend the passive version, the P5, for those that are looking for a really good mini monitor setup. The PSB Alpha P5 passive loudspeaker, which was released in 2019, received near-universal critical praise. Building on the P5 platform, PSB introduced the Alpha AM5 in late 2020. The AM5 is a powered loudspeaker with digital and analog inputs. In fact, the left- and right-channel analog inputs feed an onboard phono stage, so a pair of AM5s can be used with a turntable as well as a digital source. This new speaker also also features digital signal processing (DSP) to tailor the frequency response and control the MaxxBass, MaxxDialog, and Maxx3D sound-enhancement effects it offers.

On December 1, 2020, Gordon Brockhouse reviewed the AM5 on SoundStageSimplifi.com, for which it received SoundStage! Reviewers’ Choice and 2020 Product of the Year awards. Nothing small will do bass convincingly. Well, maybe a pair of Vanatoo Transparent Zero wouldn't be the worst at that. They're 7.5″H x 4

I've had some $80 Logitech THX speakers that come with a Sub for over 10 years and love them.  3 inches wide.

My desk at work is 51" wide and I will be getting a 36" wide ultrawide monitor. This leaves me around 15" of space for some speakers. Now there are plenty of good speakers that are less than 7.5" wide but because I want the speakers to be pointed at me, they need to sit diagonally - which means their horizontal footprint turned must not be wider than 7.5". That leaves me with speakers around the 5-6". Any advice for a pair of small speakers (and an amp as well) that sound great if price is not a consideration?

I have a small desk with a widescreen monitor, but I'd still like a pair of high quality speakers, any advice?

  In the same office I have a 6.5 WPC tube amplifier connected to a pair of Wharfedale Jade 3s which are bi-wired with Canare cable. That's six point five watts - compared to more than 40 watts per channel, which is almost enough to DOUBLE the volume based on dB/watt calculations. Using the Windows Tidal app (with access to HiFi and Master quality streams) as a source for each of these two systems, the tubes/Wharfedales simply blows the Vanatoos away

 They really aren't that much less powerful sounding AND they are USB powered! No kidding.  The Transparent Zeros are a passable system, so-called expert opinions about their ability to change your life and they way you listen to music forever notwithstanding. But, and I cannot stress this enough, they are NOT so good that you should be comfortable dropping the bones to buy them without ever listening to any of the competition. I wish I had

 I'm willing to forgive almost any convenience issue if a system sounds amazing, and this one just doesn't.  * Sound flat and even muffled. Try comparing them to equivalent JBLs. * Tweeter "hides", no air in the treble, treble controls have to be turned up all the way and then the 10kHz-15kHz band gets way too strong

 * Bass is there, but not what I'd call solid. * They'd probably be good for audio projects where you want to listen in a clinical fashion, rather than for pleasure. These haven't gotten my toes tapping yet. * They sound like computer speakers

Under $1k the Vanatoo Transparent One Encore is considered pretty much the best choice for powered speakers.

I’m new to the audiophile world, but as a musician and an avid lover of movies/the sounds associated, I want some great sounding speakers for my new PC. I intentionally have a very large monitor so that I can enjoy movies and music from my bed. I just have no idea what I’m looking for and I don’t want to make a mistake. I have a white build, so preferably I would like some white speakers, but again, if something is the clear cut best option then I would rather have that regardless of aesthetics. I am looking to spend less than $500, but I can go up to $1000 if there is an option that truly blows the cheaper option out of the water.

I intentionally have a very large monitor so that I can enjoy movies and music from my bed. I just have no idea what I’m looking for and I don’t want to make a mistake. I have a white build, so preferably I would like some white speakers, but again, if something is the clear cut best option then I would rather have that regardless of aesthetics. I am looking to spend less than $500, but I can go up to $1000 if there is an option that truly blows the cheaper option out of the water.</p>

Best Desktop Speakers under $500 (under $1000 if they are truly knock your socks off)

- These are wonderful little speakers !!! - They arrived days late, but well packed & early in the day they came, which sort-a made up for it - …Excited, so bamm > they were reproducing in noize-time - They sounded more pleasing & more dynamic than expected, w/an engaging inviting, fun tone & fast bass - Next step, download the owners manual (don’t be lazy, do it, lots of great setting codes in there) - Next step, sleep (auto on/off) function deactivation > DSP shelving deactivation (flat setting) > DSP Limiter deactivation = better sound > check, yes, dynamics improve, sweeter less grain - Then it happened…  - The audiophile tinker brain kicked in > Amazon received an order for SHNITPWR AC Adapter 120W Universal Power Adapter 4V 5V 6V 9V 12V 15V 18V 19V 20V 24V Adjustable Switching Power Supply 100V~240V AC to DC 4V ~ 24V 5A Converter with 14 Tips & Polarity Converter > Amazon received an order for 1.25" Platinum Silicone Hemisphere Bumper, Non-Skid Isolation Feet with Adhesive - 20 Duro - 8 Pack > Amazon received an order for Amazon Basics Round Felt Furniture Pads, Linen, 1'', 48 pcs, even though only two are needed -  - The result > the Vanatoo T Zeros, hot roded, are really good - Buy the power supply, & hear the speaker full throttle, makes the speaker play larger, cleaner - The isolation feet, be assured they are cost effective, rewarding upgrade, better isolating the speakers from rattling your desk/shelf/stands - If your not gonna buy them, change your mind - As for the optional two round felt pads, apply 1 each at the (exact) center of the passive radiators outside surface (at your risk), to help break up & absorb leaking unwanted midrange vibrations from spreading across the passive radiators reinforced cork surface, & smearing the good stuff, the sound - Adding a very little more mass, usually bad thing, in trade for a much improved & focused damping, turned out to be a really good idea, with an unexpected bonus > the small box signature smearing almost dissolves, at a slight cost to upper mid base energy > & that loss turns out is also a benefit for these speakers, having removed most of the excess upper mid-bass slop, & with it, most of the rest of the ‘small speaker signature sound’ - Risky putting the felt pads on the radiators, yes, but…  - What you read here is a story about a happy w/his purchase(s) geek - These are desktop sonic reproduction wonders, stock, & well worth the $360 - When hot-roded w/an additional about $50 in parts they are more than audiophile worthy, almost Klipsch The Fives competitors, especially when comparing them while driving a subwoofer - Accolades are deserved for their best in class $300 > $500 sound imaging, tone, dynamics > & mimicking a Jeep’s ability to be modified, this all in one (or two) box sound system can be tinkered with for x-tra fun, & value added emotional attachment -  - Criticize the T0s for not having the last word in high end sound reproduction refinement, resolution, or bass > the underhung mid/woofer’s voice coils w/that signature attack speed make you yearn for more, a sub, except when being used for desk top near field listening at low volume - Oh & that wire between them > don’t get me wrong, the multi conductor cable means at least a DSP x-over is used a great thing, but I hate the wire itself, the complicated adjustment procedures, & the slight (for their cost) small box, smeary mega-phone sound - But I’m sure you will praise their high frequency reproductions, imaging, dynamics, value, & suffer thru adjusting the tone any way - Once you’ve adjusted to your liking, the T0s will repay your work & you will wear them out !!! -  - That’s about it > I hope your experience is even better than mine > ENJOY !!! -

  Tonality is good on the Vanatoo, clear, decent amount of detail, treble is bit smoothed over and forgiving, but you lose nothing here. You are getting a chillax speaker with possibly softer, less in-your-face dynamics than something like a Klipsch. They are very forgiving of source, and image exceptionally well for a $350 speaker, I would say a good step up from the Audio engine A5 in this department which is high praise. They also sound very natural, especially vocals

0.pdf  Treble performance is better extended and there is less bloat and congestion in the lower midrange and upper bass region. They also seem less harsh in the upper midrange, a bit shouty on some tracks. I have C&P'd an EQ profile from an audio science review that will fix this, and give these much more balanced and enjoyable tuning while giving more body to guitars and male vocals

Great value for the money

 They look stupid and the kick-stands are stupid. I'd have to change the kick-stands around and one cannot listen to them without stands, so then they aren't small anymore. I've listened to discontinued Emotvia Airmotiv 4's for years and they might not "shine" as much but they are better. The bass on the Zeros killed me

 I need to reduce number of wires for my new set-up and I'm still looking for a solution. I'm getting older by the day and just can't screw with things like I once did. Maybe I should have bought the big brothers.

Very hard to rate...very love/hate

.  I was sifting around and threw up a post on AVSforms.com asking for advice from all the speaker nuts that lurk the forum. Someone suggested these Vanatoo T0's as the best option for the small footprint I needed

The BEST small-footprint near field sound for a 2.1 PC setup

  They sound amazing. If you have a shelf to put them on, highly recommended. For PC use, I feel there are better options, especially if you need to put your speakers on stands.

  - They're nearly impossible to mount due to their design. If you have a triple monitor setup you don't just want to stick them behind your monitors have your sound all muffled. The triangular case design aims the sweet spot upwards by default, so you must use the included bracket to point them forward, but now they really don't fit on any mounting solution known to man. Vanatoo's solution is literally two pieces of cut acrylic and blu-tac, which they happily charge $30 for which I find a bit insulting

I'm reviewing these for use on a PC in USB mode. I dock them a star for a few reasons:  - Even with the sleep mode disabled, they still take a second or so sometimes to play a sound after sitting there a while. This means if your system is idle for a bit, you might miss a notification sound. Usually I'll hear a little cracklish blip instead as they wake up, which I recognize now in a Pavlovian response as a notification, but it's not ideal
