Polk Audio S30 vs Ultimate Ears Hyperboom

The Sony center speaker did better job on wider range of vocals. Then one day, I realized when I was watching movies on a Blu-ray discs that Polk S30 sounded much much better including bass male voices. In summary, if you use high quality audio source such as Blu-ray disc, you will enjoy S30. If you are streaming, save yourself money and go with Sony SSCS8 center

We also have dual passive three-and-a-half inch by seven and a half inch passive radiators shooting out of the back of the speaker which sounds incred...

I love this speaker but my neighbors don't. There's a lot of bass that comes from the rear of the unit..

First, I tried the JBL Boombox 2. I returned it. To my ears, the bass was overdone and thuddy, drowning out the mids and highs. Also, the sound was very directional, meaning that my ears had to be directly in line with the speaker (vertically and horizontally) to get some presence of mids and highs

If space allows, S30 has better value than S35 for a home theater system using a video projector instead of a panel HDTV. Highly recommended!

black friday would hopefully bring this down in price as Bose normally has good discounts.

My happy medium is the [UE this has a 3.5 mm port AND an optical port, and sounds good enough (to my ear) for pretty much any music and movies

After reading reviews and being a fan of Polk, I purchased this without ever listening to it. It is ok at best! very disappointing

The negatives - these don't matter to me but they might to you. It is pretty heavy (maybe just awkward because of size/shape and crappy rubber handle). Plenty portable, but I wouldn't take it on a hike or public transportation. I am not sure how water resistant it really is
