You have to remember to bring a camera (and its paraphernalia: batteries, cards, chargers, etc.) with you. If you go interchangeable lens like mirrorless (like the Olympus you're looking at) or dSLR, that typically means a camera bag, because you'll probably be interchanging lenses as well. And you'll probably eventually spend more than $700 on a basic setup, because lenses can cost anywhere from $100 to thousands of dollars, with great $100-$200 ones being a rarity, and most of the "affordable" ones being more in the $300-$600 range, new

Now there are some poor lenses too, but if you are willing to pay a little more I have found all of the Panny/Leica and Olympus Zuiko lenses to be very, very good.

That said, its autofocus system struggles a bit when keeping track of moving subjects, particularly human subjects. If you're interested in video, this is a serviceable camera when shooting in 1080p, but it can only shoot 4k with a significant 1.45x crop, and its autofocus system performs poorly in 4k. Still, if you're looking for a solid and affordable camera that feels comfortable to shoot with and has a long zoom lens for a variety of photography styles, this is a great option

The camera's built-in lens has a 25-400mm full-frame equivalent focal length, meaning you can take everything from wide-angle landscape shots to close-ups of far-away subjects. This is an amazing little package that can give cameras 4 times more expensive a run for their money. The Lumix DC-GH5 is blurring the lines between prosumer and professional with features like 4k at 60p, 10-bit 4:2:2 recorded internally, plus many more. Future firmware updates will blur those lines even further with a 400Mbp/s bit rate codec! This is an exciting camera that will give you stunning photos and videos (admittedly more on the video side). A must own for the aspiring photographer/filmmaker on a budget

You might be able to find a used Sony a6400 or a6500 used for 800USD with the kit lens. The Sony a6100 with the kit lens is about 850USD new, so not much extra, if you get that used you'll be able to buy some accessories, but it will still be more expensive than any of the Lumix cameras. Sony has a significant advantage in videa AF and a slight one in low light (more precisely high ISO performance). I personally would not recommend the EOS M50 as it is worse in low light than the Panasonic, it loses the advantage of having good AF if you record in 4K, it has no IBIS and it isn't weather-sealed and there aren't a lot of native lenses for the system

Almost perfect, the best 4K color depth video camera (prosumer) BUT for the autofocus problems in keeping the main subject in focus. Firmware update to support 4:2:2 in 10bit color is slow and unavailable as of August 2017. Recommend gimble stabilizer even with a LUMIX IS lens.

The camera has a built-in Leica lens with a long 24-400mm focal length (full-frame equivalent). That gives you a fair amount of range to zoom in on subjects that are farther away or take close-ups. It uses optical and electronic stabilization, which does a great job of reducing camera shake when shooting handheld at moderate focal lengths. The camera also shoots at a relatively quick 10 fps burst rate when the focus is locked, although it drops to 7 fps with autofocus, so it's just okay for moving subjects

Love this camera. The stabilization has changed the way I film weddings. It's a thing of beauty to use a 70-200mm lens on a monopod for wedding toasts. The dual card slots is great to have

To go with those high resolutions, you'll find a full manual video mode as well as shutter-priority, aperture-priority and program auto modes; a mic jack (but no headphone jack); optical image stabilization; and a five-step speed control for the zoom for smooth movement while recording. The Micro-HDMI port on the right side supports clean HDMI output, so you can record to an external drive without text or graphics or view on a larger display while recording to the internal SD card (camera-testing site Imaging Resource has a thorough explanation if you want more details).

This camera is a powerhouse for the price. Full disclosure, my first camera was a Panasonic SD camcorder back in 2005, then switched to a Canon Pro camcorder in 2009, then jumped on the Panasonic train again with the GH3 and was using them until I picked up the GH5. The image is amazing, but that's not news. What is news - and hopefully will not be overlooked - is how much this camera is amazing to use

The zoom as an all-round lens and the 85mm as a close-up when the zoom is used wide-angle. I don't think overheating will be a problem as interviews don't go longer than 30-45min either. With my old equipment I'm used to stopping recording after 30min, changing memory cards and batteries and then filming again briefly. Autofocus is also usable here and resolution for photos is optimal

I would consider the Canon. They make good bang for the buck cameras that are easy to learn on.

A GH5 or G9 is the way to go for you, in my opinion. Unless you’re spending around 3000$/£ or more, full frame makes no sense - you’ll be stuck with one kit lens and you’ll need another grand to get another. In APS-C land, Canon and Nikon have nothing interesting, only the more recent Fuji X series cameras are seriously capable video cameras, but at the price point of a GH5 they’re generally inferior.
