This is an amazing little package that can give cameras 4 times more expensive a run for their money. The Lumix DC-GH5 is blurring the lines between prosumer and professional with features like 4k at 60p, 10-bit 4:2:2 recorded internally, plus many more. Future firmware updates will blur those lines even further with a 400Mbp/s bit rate codec! This is an exciting camera that will give you stunning photos and videos (admittedly more on the video side). A must own for the aspiring photographer/filmmaker on a budget

Cons- Nikon, despite having issued numerous firmware updates, still cannot get the auto focus working properly. Not even when you are using the camera outside with plenty of light. If you are taking a full length picture of a person in the shade on a sunny day the camera most of the time just won't find the person you are taking a photo of. This is in the auto af mode, with face and eye detection turned on

Almost perfect, the best 4K color depth video camera (prosumer) BUT for the autofocus problems in keeping the main subject in focus. Firmware update to support 4:2:2 in 10bit color is slow and unavailable as of August 2017. Recommend gimble stabilizer even with a LUMIX IS lens.

I am still on the fence between DSLR and mirrorless but the smaller physical size and the ease of use is pulling me towards mirrorless. I have really enjoyed using the Nikon Z 5 for both photos and video. My previous DSLR only shot in 1080p so getting the option for 4k video is nice, however; I was disappointed to find out it does not shoot 4k at full frame. 4k video will be cropped but 1080p will do full frame

Having the ability to 2x zoom in to your subject through the viewfinder makes even manual focus lenses a snap. This paired with the 50 f/1.8 S is such a solid, near-silent combo. I doubt I will ever go back to DSLR

The zoom as an all-round lens and the 85mm as a close-up when the zoom is used wide-angle. I don't think overheating will be a problem as interviews don't go longer than 30-45min either. With my old equipment I'm used to stopping recording after 30min, changing memory cards and batteries and then filming again briefly. Autofocus is also usable here and resolution for photos is optimal

It even has the option of adding a lens adapter so it can use Nikon F-mount lenses (Adapter FTZ $249) There are so much to love about this camera. I will try to hit on the highlights. PROS: + 2 UHS-II SD card slots. Put in fast U3 speed SD cards in it for faster saves

This camera is a powerhouse for the price. Full disclosure, my first camera was a Panasonic SD camcorder back in 2005, then switched to a Canon Pro camcorder in 2009, then jumped on the Panasonic train again with the GH3 and was using them until I picked up the GH5. The image is amazing, but that's not news. What is news - and hopefully will not be overlooked - is how much this camera is amazing to use

The touch screen can be used ether by hand or by the designated button on the back of the camera, I found the button works better for me. The provided fifty millimeter lens is of the manual type and using it that way is accomplished well enough. The provided literature on warranty and how to go about setting it up is a painless endeavor and a necessary one because things do go wrong from time to time. Also the operations manual is exceptionally well put together and explanations and pictures together helped me get the Z5 operational very quickly

Now there are some poor lenses too, but if you are willing to pay a little more I have found all of the Panny/Leica and Olympus Zuiko lenses to be very, very good.

So in this instance the Nikon is perfect for my needs. Both have been great cameras, and I know there several years of technology difference between the two. But it seems like the Nikon is just designed better for my needs. Because of the in-body image stabilization I can use this to take much better video footage, the design of the tilting LCD screen is so much more usable than the ones that just pop out to the side, and it's still light weight! Loving everything about the Z5!

Love this camera. The stabilization has changed the way I film weddings. It's a thing of beauty to use a 70-200mm lens on a monopod for wedding toasts. The dual card slots is great to have
