Microsoft Xbox Series X vs Sony PlayStation 4 Pro

The Series X comes complete with HDMI 2.1 cable for 4K UHD display, power cord (and no ungainly brick this time), and of course the evolutionary Series controller. With everything connected, the first powerup was exciting. The new splash screen is powerful, reminiscent of the old THX sound intro that is truly amazing if you have the volume turned up

The controller is vastly better to the Xbox one in terms of overall compatibility with other hardware that you might all especially if you order back as it will work right out of the box with it however you will need to you use windows 10 in Boot Camp if you really want to use PS now on your mini Mac so take that into consideration before buying this just for the controller if you’re looking for that. Overall the console is probably the best of all of the PlayStation brand except outside all fat PS3 60 gb console that has hardware place backwards compatibility all the way back to the original PlayStation that was shipped out by Sony in this generation that was probably the worst mistake they made and why they only get 4 out of 5 stars. What a sidenote if you are thinking about PSN and the problems with buying online and downloaded games just remember this is not as fast as downloading a game on steam so remember that because they do not have that ability in this console or in the Xbox one in this generation if you’re going to think about buying games digitally.

But that's on me. I love the series x though. The graphics are awesome and the game pass is the icing on the cake.

I have owned every Xbox (multiple) that has been manufactured (I am 69 yrs old) and always had to re-download all my games (well after CD'S). I discovered games can now be copied from the old to the new using my home network. Just plug both into the same router start both up go to settings then system, backup and transfer then network transfer, allow network transfer, select your old Xbox and you will get a list of your games to select for copying to your new Xbox. Piece of cake! Sure beats downloading, especially if you have a bandwidth cap like I do

Thus far I've had a very positive experience with the PS4 Pro, which I purchased from Amazon when it was released in Q4 2016 (meaning I've owned it for around 6-7 months as of the date of this review - 07/10/17). I had debated whether I should wait a year for what is now the X Box One X, but I am glad that I made the decision to stick with the PlayStation brand (I've owned every PS console) given the catalog of games that is available on PlayStation (3rd party games *might* look better on the X, but more people are playing them on a variant of the PS4 - meaning I stand a greater chance of finding one of my friends playing a given 3rd party game - and Sony has superior exclusives in my opinion) and the fact that a lot of 3rd party devs/publishers will cap performance at what the PS4 Pro is capable of (meaning the XBox One X versions of 3rd party games will not necessarily be significantly better since it will vary by game and who is making them / how much time and $ they want to spend on the 4k versions). There are really only two items I can "complain" about, and really only one of those qualifies as a complaint. 1
