hey there I need to get a new rear tire and im debating between the Maxxis ardent in a 2.4, the Maxxis Rekon 2.4, and the Maxxis aggressor 2.3. my bike is 130 front 130 rear so I do a large variety of riding but I end up doing a lot of road riding in-between trails because I live on an island near seattle and we don't have the best mountain bike trails unless you go off island. which one would you suggest for that? I can't decide. thanks!

rear tire suggestion?

  Update: I have had this rear tire on for a year now. It still has adequate tread. Note that I ride only about 20 miles a week and rarely does the tire touch asphalt. I remain overly satisfied with this tire

 When I recieved the tire I immediately mounted it tubeless,using some Stans Sealant. The bead set really well. I was on the local single tracks about an hour later. Here where I live in PA, we have a variety of trail conditions and this tire held up well on all of them

Great all around mountain tire

Something like Maxxis Aggressor or Minion SS in cheap versions. I commute 13km one way and I put a bit more pressure in than normal. That was good enough for me. No hassle to swap wheels etc

Second pair of beater wheels for commuting?

 I can't imagine it will be any worse than my Minion SS, but I'll update with that info later. Regardless, this will definitely be my rear tire of choice from now on.

 There is a super slight increase in rolling resistance versus the Minion SS, but this comes with very marked improvement in uphill grip, and even more braking improvement. I was literally blown away the first time I braked in loose stuff at speed with this tire - I almost couldn't get the rear wheel to lock up. All this with no loss in cornering proficiency. Durability is also fantastic

 I previously had a Minion SS and honestly didn't think I could do much better. I was sacrificing a little grip both uphill and while braking, but it rolled and cornered so well I didn't mind. It was a tough sell for me to buy this tire honestly, but I decided to give it a try for this price.

Best Rear Tire on the Market?

Love these! I've put nearly 300 miles on them so far, and they are barely shoeing wear. I ride very hard and rely heavily on the traction of my tires. These are even more enjoyable than my maxxis high roller 2 (and I've beat the ish out of those!) the extra weight on the tires is absolutely worth it. In my sloppy line choices down hill through gnarly, tire shredding rocks, these sidewalls still are not leaking fluid out of them and they are holding pressure perfectly! They popped on my easton arc 30 rim so tightly and so easy! I plan on ordering another set for my emergency gear stock pile! I would love to see maxxis offer a 2

 Next thing I like is the availability of 50 millimeters. I just got a fresh, new Bossy Grit Sx build and I wanted something that would max out the tyre clearance on that frame, so the Ramblers were perfect. I've also found myself gravitating towards wider tires in general, I love the plushness, the grip, and the ability to plow through almost anything. Setup, wear and tear are another strength of the Ramblers

 This tire for 75 is fine. a decent deal overall, and I've got no real problems with it. You get a good amount of performance for quite a long wear life, but don't spend more than that. Otherwise, you might as well get the Pirellis if you want a grippier alternative in the same 50mm size, then I really like the American classic Crumb Beans, which come out a little cheaper as well

 I guess that they're fine. and these these kangaroos definitely agree with me. Let's start with what's good, and I have to say that these tires are very good value. I bought the 120 Tpi version for 75 Australian dollars and that's a solid deal in the current market where prices really are getting quite high

 The Maxis Rambler was first released in 2015, meaning this tread pattern is really old and it was among the first of what I'd call the modern gravel tyres with things like the Panaracer, Gravel King Sk, and the Schwab G1 all-round And if I'd ridden these tires, you know, three years ago, I'd have liked the pattern a lot more. Back then, I've just ridden too many better tyres recently, with more grip and more speed at the same time for not much more money and sometimes even for less money, the Rambler's pattern falls into an awkward zone where they have a lot of tread blocks, but they lack enough space between them to be properly grippy, so they look much grippier than they are. And that's fine for your basic gravel roads where you're not really pushing the grip too hard. but these things slid a lot more than I was expecting on trails and in sort of wet conditions

Maxxis Rambler 2022 Review - Does it hold up?

Maxxis Rambler is a full on gravel racing tyre that I simply wouldn't recommend running with a tube. The SS version of the Rambler is better in terms of puncture resistance, but I still wouldn't run it with a tube. It's also worth noting that you should run the tyres on low-ish pressures, definitely below 40PSI.

 They're amazing; the Ravager has a similar tread pattern to a Maxxis Minion DHF but at a more palatable 700c scale. They are basically XC MTB tires.

Recommendations for 700c singletrack tires

 (Somewhere there is an allen wrench set in search of a 1/4 to complete the set).  I have ridden on the road since I got this tire, mounted on the back, and running about 60psi because I am 270lbs.  Tire seems fast and has great grip, and really compliant. Good value for the money

 and you're used to 32c tires. Adding a little bit more air air volume really gives the bike. I'm a more compliant ride and I'll just throw this out there. I Mentioned this in my videos, but if you're looking for a cross bike, get a bike that fits 40c tires

 So 360 grams not too bad. Okay I've got a cup of stands in the tire I just sprayed some soap bubbles between the tire and the RAM and let's see how these things are up because this is a very important thing for me. I hate when I have to work tires hard to get an air dot this to bus so okay this is on a two bus round by the way it stands. grails you can see not cool

 and I do also want to show the tire that these are replacing. this is the schwa BG one Again, this is a 35c tire I think this this actually measures wider than a 35 see they say 35 but it's probably more like a 37. But this is a pretty smooth rolling tire and these are actually going to go on my Cyclocross race bike in the offseason which is now. So I'll put the maxes Rambler on this bike and again just use these for my Cyclocross race bike

 I'm a more compliant ride and I'll just throw this out there. I Mentioned this in my videos, but if you're looking for a cross bike, get a bike that fits 40c tires. Most of them do. You can see how much clearance I have on this bike

I Just picked up a pair of Maxis Rambler 700 by 4dc tires that I'm gonna put on my grab a bike so I figured I'd do a review on this tire. I Originally was going to use the Clemente Explorer MSO because I wanted just a little bit extra volume. These are gonna replace the Schwab eg1 tires that's a 700 by 35 seat tire and again I just want a little bit more cushion on my gravel bike and I was gonna use these comments but this is the clincher version and I just could not get these to hold hair so that was really disappointing because I've read a lot of good things about the NSS and Clemente seems to be really taking their sweet time and releasing this in a tubeless ready version which I've heard that they are, but again, they're just taking a while so you've got to go ahead and try these. Maxis Rambler tires I Think this is going to be a really good tire
