I didn't expect it to sound like my Takamine, but it sounds so tinny. One of the strings has a buzz to it but the overall sound isn't pleasant at all. Tomorrow I plan to restring it with hopes of improvement. I probably should have spent more $ and bought a better guitar

I'm not an expert on guitar quality, but I've noticed its sound turns very dull and mumbled under certain weather conditions. And for some reason it requires much more frequent tuning than the Yamaha guitar. All in all, I consider this an average guitar with a higher than average price tag.

If you are not experienced in these tasks, a local luthier should do it for no more than $30 or so. Based on sound, playability once adjusted, and construction quality, this guitar should definitely be included when comparing instruments in this price range. It is a real standout in value. I probably just need to play more to build up better callouses, or maybe just practice less on nylon string classical guitars that tend to pamper my hands.

But I got the Little Martin to accommodate my hands and body type. I have been pleased with the action and the sound. A 3/4 guitar will never outperform a full size, but since it's a Martin, the sound is great.

do NOT buy a guitar that has no strings on it... You want to be able to play and feel an instrument before purchasing
