Logitech G27 Force Feedback Racing wheel review with Race-On

 peddle calibration - when the steering wheel calibrates it does not calibrate the peddles. When the game is starting and the wheel is calibrating press down each peddle all the way(you can also do this b4 the race starts just push all the peddles down all the way). Failure to do this will cause your break to depress fully when you tap it(but it will only do this until you depress it all the way).  Overall I am very happy with my G27

I will start by saying this is my first real wheel, so I can't compare with other products. Although I did extensive research and decided that the G27 is the best value. Maybe not the best set but I feel it is the best set of features in the price range. I looked at the more expensive ones but they didn't seem to offer enough to justify the extreme prices

 Because the shifter is separate makes it easier to position it on my desk too. The only issue I really have with it, is that unless the game supports the shifter properly you can shift without using the clutch and generally you can't do that with real world vehicles. The other thing too is that the shift indicator only works if the game supports it too. However, more than likely you'll not be looking down for that if you're playing a game

 Found out that it was only a spring issue and going to a local hardware store was able to get a spring to modify the clutch pedal spring and allow me to use the clutch pedal spring in the brake pedal. Otherwise, I was tempted to return the pedals because I couldn't literally push the brake pedal down beyond a few degrees.  I prefer to drive a manual transmission without pedal shifters. The shifter is nicely notchy like the car I drive has

This is a great steering wheel and shifter combo. There was a problem with the pedals being too stiff for the brake pedal. ."  Overall, the controller is nice and customizable since you can even change the shifter knob if you wanted. Not sure why, but if you wanted you could even change the steering wheel. I wouldn't recommend it, but it is helpful and shows why I think that its worth every penny that it costs

UPDATED 06/01/13  This has been a great wheel! Keep in mind I only play Gran Turismo on a PS3. I have tried the Thrustmaster F430, DFGT, and Fanatec GT3 V2. The DFGT has horrible shift buttons with no feel (click) to them. Their small size limits you to keeping your hands in one location as well

this is really the only wheel to get unless you want to spend twice as much

 I found that capability particularly useful in games that needed heavy use of an e-brake. * Logitech's latest driver is from a few years ago, and it's not supported in the new "G-Series" Logitech Gaming Software v8.0+, so you're forced to use the byzantine Logitech Profiler that's all but useless any more * Only uses 2 small feet to secure the wheel, which can allow it to move around a bit during hard steering with lots of force feedback. It would have been nice to have an additional pair of arched arms like the shifter pod has to reinforce the small feet on thicker desks * Shifter pod mount can move around and loosen up during high-adrenaline action

 I've had it fall off my desk once.  The Ugly (Similar with issues in "The Bad" section, more personal annoyances than anything): * Minor cosmetic stitching issues in the leather wrapping on the wheel * Pedal spacing is a little close for people like me who have big feet.  Overall: I would recommend this wheel without reservation to anyone who wants a fantastic simulation experience. You may be bothered by some of the minor annoyances that bother me, and you may not

Logitech his one out of the park

  A few years ago, I bought an Xbox controller to give me two analog triggers for throttle and brakes. That worked for a while, but I wasn't able to get enough adjustment from the joystick for me to be content.  I was racing in NFS Shift and Shift 2 primarily at this point.  Last August, I purchased a cheap $50 racing wheel to see if the increased adjustment and realism would allow me to get faster

. started on Need For Speed III. (I know, don't bash me too much for it.)  After many years on the keyboard playing arcade style games, I started trying out more simulation style games

  Now, to get force feedback on the brake peddle and to set up a more ergonomic racing environment where I am not scrunched to where my calves are getting sore from the peddles being too close.

Racing taken to a whole new level.

  The only game I've used this with so far is GRID: Autosport on the PC. Previously I used an XBox 360 controller to play, but using this racing wheel is like playing an entirely different game. The experience is so immersive, the controls so accurately dialed in, and the force feedback so well done that you can almost forget you are playing a game. The accuracy of the steering and the throttle and breaking sensitivity are excellent and feel very natural

 I should have bought one of these years ago!  The construction quality is very good. Sturdy plastic, metal, and leather. It clamps down securely on my desk and does not slide at all during use (something I was concerned about because my desk is glass and steel). The foot pedals sit securely in the carpet and also do not slide around during use

 If you like racing games and want to experience all they can be, this is definitely the product to have.

  The pedals are heavy enough to where they do not move around on a plastic mat, which I have set under my computer desk. The only time the pedals move is if I happen to jam on the brake or accelerator suddenly.  The pedals themselves feel great underneath your feet. Doesn't take a lot of force to even start braking or accelerating, but these settings can be adjusted in the thrustmaster control panel and in individual sim settings
